Advent Day 22 & 24: Whale Shaker

A whale shaker birthday card.

What, A whale shaker? Yep, come along and create this two-dimensional whale shaker card with me with Advent Calendar Days 22 & 24.

A whale shaker birthday card with two whales on it.

This card is super fun to make. And, it goes together pretty quickly. I especially love that you create extra dimension by having one of the whales inside the shaker. And, then the other one is attached on top. As a result, the bubbles (sequins and rhinestones) come in front of the one on the inside to make it look a little farther away or deeper.

Steps To Create The Whale Shaker

  • Die-cut as follows
  • Assemble the whales using liquid glue
  • Trim a piece of Raindrop to 3″ x 6″
  • Decide on where you will place your whales and sentiment will be and take a snapshot
  • Heat emboss sentiment (I used Advent Calendar Day 13) on the card panel with silver embossing powder
  • Attach one of the whales and some of the “splashes” to the card panel with liquid glue
  • Fasten double-sided adhesive tape to the inside of all four sides of an acetate mini-slimline shaker pocket
  • Wrap the shaker pocket around the card panel and attach three of the sides.
  • Pour a few of the sequins from Day 22 of Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar and a few of the tiny Gems into the pocket and fasten the fourth tab.
  • Attach the second whale and more splashes and bubbles to the front of the shaker with liquid glue.
  • Use a strong adhesive to attach the shaker assembly to a mini-slimline (3″ x 6″) card base

Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar

Well, this is the last of the projects that I have created using the wonderful treats that were behind each of the twenty-four days in Spellbinders Crafty Advent Calendar. I hope that you have had as much fun as I have. And, it you haven't already tried one yourself, you might want to keep an out for them next year.
