You make my life magical with advent calendar day 8 featuring magical mushrooms.

Use magical mushrooms to create a beautiful whimsical card. These dies sit behind the Day 8 door in Spellbinders' Crafty Advent Calendar.

A card adorned with two magical mushrooms.

STEPS TO CREATE THE MAGICAL MUSHROOMS CARD

  • Die-cut mushrooms as follows: Large cap front – medium red, small-cap fronts – bright red, stems – beige, fins – brown gray, “fuzz” and mushroom cap backs – white
  • Use the ink on your brown blending brush to add shading on the mushroom cap backs and the stems. And, use your gray blending brush to add shading to the fins and the top of the “fuzz”
  • Assemble the mushrooms with liquid glue
  • Trim a card panel to 3″ x 3 3/4″ with a deckle trimmer or deckle rectangle dies.
  • On the card panel, use brown ink to add some shading behind where the mushrooms will be. And then, blend around the edges with green ink.
  • Finish the background card panel by spraying it with light green, medium green, and gold shimmer spray.
  • We have to be a little creative with the sentiment because it doesn't fit on the card as it is. We'll begin by stamping “You Make My Life” in the upper left-hand corner. To do this, mask off the word magical with a post-it note or tape, load it with ink, remove the mask and stamp the sentiment onto the card panel.
  • Stamp the word Magical using the same process as the previous one
  • Trim the color panel to 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ with a deckle trimmer and then blend green ink around the edges
  • Place a piece of dark green cardstock inside an embossing folder that creates a woodsy feel. Trim it to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and attach it to a white A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card base with a tape runner.
  • Use foam tape to pop up and fasten the panels and the mushrooms.
