Beautiful embossed and watercolored Christmas card created using Simon Hurley's Playful Poinsettia embossing folder.

Use the new Playful Poinsettia embossing folder from Spellbinders to make Christmas Cards in minutes. And, it comes with a die too!

I can't get enough of poinsettias this year! There are so many great products to use to make with them. I have four projects to share with you today using Simon Hurley's Playful Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder. And, when you emboss a half sheet of cardstock you emboss two card panels at once. That is what we do for these projects.

Pink and White Playful Poinsettia Christmas Cards

For our first two projects, we'll emboss a half sheet of white layering weight cardstock with our embossing folder. Next, we'll use pink and green dye ink with water to watercolor the images. I like to use something like a #3 round watercolor brush.

Once the ink is dry we'll trim the panel to create two 3 3/4″ x 5″ card panels. And, while we have our trimmer out we'll go ahead and trim to green color accent panels to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.

The first of the two pink and white cards is very simple. Just attach the embossed panel to the color panel making sure that it is centered. I like to use double-sided adhesive with embossed panels to ensure that it is secure. Then center the card panels on the card base and fasten them down with a tape runner.

I used a sentiment from my stash. It is one that I created with my BetterPress System at some point. I especially like the contrast between the stark white of the card panel and the cream sentiment. And, to add some dimension we'll pop up the strip with foam squares.

White Poinsettia Card

The panels for the second pink and white card are assembled just like we did for the first one. To create some added interest and dimension we'll emboss another white panel. And then we'll die-cut the large poinsettia with the coordinating die. Next, we'll pop up the die-cut with foam squares and add some gems for some bling.

I found another sentiment in my stash for this card too. This one is foiled and die-cut in a pretty swirly banner shape. It had been created using the Comfort & Joy Sentiments hot foil and die set. You can pop up this sentiment with foam square too if you like.

To create the blue cards you apply blue ink (or any color you want to use) directly to the embossing folder before running it with the half sheet of cardstock through your machine. Then, trim the embossed panels to 4″ x 5 1/4″.

For the “Joy to the World ” card, you'll attach the panel centered on an A2 card base with double-sided adhesive and then pop up a sentiment from your stash. If you want to make this one, I used Comfort & Joy Sentiments hot foil and die set for both of the blue cards with blue cardstock.

The only real difference between these two cards other than the sentiment is that I popped up the embossed panel for the “Tis the Season' card using a double-sided adhesive foam sheet.
