It is hard to know what to say when someone has just learned that they have cancer. Maybe a beautiful card with a reminder that the Lord is there to help is the best thing you can do or say.
Coloring the Trust in the Lord Card
To create this card, we'll begin with a half sheet of watercolor cardstock. And, we'll stamp the large floral image on it with black waterproof ink. Once the ink is dry, color the image by adding small dabs of ink. And then wet your brush and then spread the color out.
HINT: Experiment with mixing colors by adding small dabs of different colors and then moving the brush through them.
HINT: Concentrate the color toward the centers of the flowers. And also, closest to the stems on the leaves. And, adding water will help to lighten the colors.
Set the watercolor painting aside to dry.
Background
To create the background, we'll spritz a half sheet (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″) piece of medium gray cardstock with water. And then, we'll place it inside a lattice embossing folder and run it through our embossing and die-cutting machine.
Following that, we'll center a stitched rectangle die on the embossed cardstock and run it through the die-cutting machine.
And finally, we'll blend medium gray ink around the edges of the background piece. We do this to draw your eye to the focal point.
Sentiment and Assembly for the Trust in the Lord Card
We'll heat emboss the sentiment on the vellum with black embossing ink. And then, we'll die-cut it with a stitched banner die. We'll cut a second stitched banner die and layer them together using Micro-Dots or a Creative Lite Station.
By now the watercolor painting should be dry. To be sure use a heat tool to give it a pop of warm air. And then, we'll cut out the floral image using the coordinating die.
To assemble the card, we'll pop up the background with a foam sheet and center it on a white 5″ x 7″ card base. Next, we'll pop up our floral image using foam tape and then attach it to the card front. And finally, we'll add a little bit of foam tape to the sentiment where it hangs off of the floral image and we'll use a tape runner on where it sits flat.
One last thing that I did for this card is to add a sentiment on the inside. For it we'll stamp “Get Better” and “I miss you! Get better soon so I can hug you” with crisp black ink.
