If you haven’t seen the new BetterPress Pressed Posies Collection yet from Spellbinders, you can click the following link to see the  collection. This collection showcases a stunning group of intricately designed BetterPress Plates that are inspired by delicate posies and floral elements.

Pressed Posies A Friend Like You Card

My first project features A Friend Like You Bouquet, a press plate that creates a sweet bouquet tied with a twine bow.

To make the card we’ll begin with a half sheet of watercolor cardstock, rather than the usual BetterPress cotton cardstock. We’re doing so because we’re going to color the image with watercolor paints. Next, we’ll press the design into the cardstock with our BetterPress System using black ink.

The next step is to color the pretty design with watercolors. Make sure that your paint is dry before going on to the next step.  I used Mijello Mission Gold watercolors, but use what you have in your stash.

The bouquet has a pretty twine bow. We’ll color it with a gold colored pencil to give it a little sheen. Following that, we’ll trim down the card panel to 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″. Or, you can do what I did and use a stitched rectangle die.

Assembly

Now that we have the card panel complete all that is left is to assemble the card. We’ll begin by making trimming a piece of gray cardstock to 5″ x 7″. And then we’ll fasten it to a white 5″ x 7″ card base with a tape runner.

Next, we’ll trim a piece of brushed black cardstock to 4 3/8″ x 6 3/8″, (or use a die) from brushed black cardstock. After which we’ll fasten the card panel centered on top. Then, we’ll attach it centered on top of the card base.

Pressed Posies Sealed Cord Card

My second project features Sealed Cord & Faux Seal Sentiments, a versatile press plate that has five cords that can be used both vertically or horizontally on an A2 size card. And, in the center of the wrapped cord there is a solid 1-inch circle shape which has a matching die to layer on top. Then, there are six plates that are sentiments that fit into the circle. They include Best Wishes, Thank You, Just for You, Feel Better Soon, Love You and Hello You in a script font.

To make the card we’ll start by pressing the design onto an A2 size card panel from BetterPress Pebble cardstock. And, we’re doing that with Coastal ink from the Desert Sunset Mini-set. When you do so it’s really important to get the plate centered on the chase (the magenetic platform). This is because after we finish our first press we’re going to turn the card panel fourty-five degress and press it again. And we want the circle in the middle to be in the same spot.

We’ll color the cords like we did in the first card with a gold colored pencil.

Special Sentiment and Assembly

The press plate set has six sentiments to use to create a faux seal. However, I need my card to be a birthday card. So I heat emboss a birthday sentiment on a blue piece of cardstock with gold embossing powder. Then, use a 1 7/8″ circle die to cut out the sentiment.

All that is left to do is to trim the card panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Following that, we’ll pop it up on a pretty A2 size card base with a foam sheet. And lastely, we’ll add a little more dimension by popping up the sentiment with foam squares.
