Every once in a while something really special comes along. Who would have guessed that it would have to do with snow globes this time?
Today I have two cards that I made for you using Simon Hurley’s Snow Globe Collection from Spellbinders’ October 9th release. But first, let’s take a look at the sets that are in this collection.
There is the foundational die set, Simon’s Snow Globes that has the parts of the snow globe base that will be needed for the other scene sets in the collection. And, it also includes a village, houses, evergreen trees, Santa with his sleigh and more! There are also four sentiments Happy Holidays, Jingle Bells, Merry Christmas, and Merry & Bright.
Then, there are three other scenes Nativity Scene, Woodland Scene, and Snowman Scene that can be bought separately or bundled with the Snow Globes set. And there’s a Glimmer sentiment and die set called Wonderful Winter Sentiments in the collection as well.
Simon’s Snow Globes Shaker Card
I used Simon’s Snow Globes for my first project to create a night winter scene. And, to make it more realistic I decided to make it a shaker card.
I used the following Spellbinders cardstock:
- Background (sky) – Indigo
- Shaker ring – Glacier
- Back row of houses – Graphite
- Front row of houses – Fog
- Trees – Forest
- Windows in back row of houses – Tuscan
- Windows in front row of houses – Saffron
- Chimneys, doors, and sentiment – Crimson
- Santa and Reindeer – Onyx
- Globe base – Brushed Silver
To make the card look more like a real snow globe I used sparkly embossing powder for the snow rather than sequins to get the scale right. And then I blended gray around the outside of the shaker ring to make the globe look like it is round. Finally, I heat embossed the shaker ring with clear embossing powder to make it look like glass.

Nativity Sunset Card Using Nativity Scene From The Snow Globes Collection.
The die-cuts from the Nativity Scene die set are so pretty on their own that I chose not to use the snow globe parts for my second project. Instead, I used an ink-blended sunset background behind the nativity scene. And used neutral colors for the nativity scene to make it pop.
