This Christmas card features a lovely house with Christmassy florals from Spellbinders' monthly Large Die of the Month Club.

The card is basically all die-cutting with just a little bit of coloring on the roof and the awning to give them some dimension. And then I use glitter glue to add icicles and ornaments.

Die-cutting

For my project, I try to make the house look like a normal house but then decorate it with Christmas-colored flowers and greenery. Therefore, I used a light gray cardstock for the house and It’s kind of hard to see in the photo. This is because my card base is gold pearl and the camera doesn’t distinguish between the two very well. It is much more easy to see in real life.

This is another great card to raid your scrap stash for. However, to duplicate this card you will need to die-cut as follows:

  • 1 Roof, 1 door – Graphite
  • 1 House – Fog
  • 1 Awning – Cosmic Sky
  • 2 Windows, 1 small door window, 1 large door window – Glacier
  • 1 Fence, 1 eave – 110lb white
  • 1 large leaf, 2 small, 1 holly leaf from the right facing holly die – Forest
  • 2 Christmas trees, 2 holly leaves, 1 small and 1 large leaf from the right facing holly die – Fern
  • 2 large leaves and 1 small from right facing holly die, 1 small leaf from left facing holly die – Peridot
  • 2 sets of the large berries – Poppy Field
  • 3 roses – Pomegranate
  • 1 set of the tiny berries, 3 of the rose backer – Crimson
  • 1 Noel – Brushed Gold

You can add a little snow to the roof by diluting white pigment ink with water and brushing it onto the tiles on the roof. And, you can also add highlights and shading to the awning with a white and a black colored pencil.

Monthly Large Die Set Assembly

Before we start gluing the pieces together, we’ll color the stems and leaves that will not be covered by any of the die-cuts. We’ll do that with a leafy green alcohol marker. Next, we’ll use reverse tweezers and liquid glue to attach all of the leaves, berries, and flowers to the house “base”.

The next step is to attach the windows to the door and then attach it and the windows to the house within the score lines that the die makes on the house base. Following that, we’ll attach the roof and then the eave on top.

To attach the awning, we’ll cut a little triangle-shaped piece of foam tape and attach it to the center of the back of the awning. And then, we’ll add liquid glue around the top of the awning and fasten it over the door. You may have to hold the edges in place until the glue takes hold.

Next, we’ll glue the two Christmas trees to the fence, centering them on each section. After that, we’ll bend the fence a the score lines. It helps to use a ruler or a firm edge to get the cardstock to fold in the correct place. Now, we’ll use liquid glue to attach the fence to the back side of the house, one side at a time. To make sure that it is even with the house fold the fence flat in front.

And finally, we’ll use a little bit of liquid glue and tweezers to attach “Noel” to the roof. To finish off the card we’ll use glitter glue to add icicles to the roof and awning. And, we’ll use red glitter glue to add ornaments to the trees.
