Why pick up the new watercolor pencils from Ranger Ink? You already have a set or two, Do you really need another one? Here’s why…

Like all of the Distress products, these watercolor pencils are “different”! The colors are more vivid than the other sets I have, and they really act like watercolor paints.
There is a recent post and video by @KristinaWerner on her blog where she uses these watercolor pencils. And that is the inspiration for these cards and my reason for buying all three sets of the pretty pencils. …And they do not disappoint!
Now the pencils are awesome, but so is this darling stamp set called Woodland Critters by Whimsy Stamps. The critters in this set remind me of a stained glass window that I made a number of years ago. So when I saw the stamps, I had to try them out.

Coloring with Watercolor Pencils

Now let’s work on these cards!
The process, tools, and techniques to make both of our cute cards for today are the same. We begin with the background by coloring with the new watercolor pencils onto watercolor paper. Just like Kristina did on her card, we add a combination of colors. To do this, you just basically scribble the pigment onto watercolor cardstock. And then blend it together with water. When we are happy that the colors have blended the way we want them, we’ll set it aside to dry while we go on to the next step.

We’ll stamp the critters onto watercolor paper with black multi-media ink. Next, using watercolor pencils we’ll add color to where the shadows will be. And then we’ll draw out the color with our watercolor brush filled with water.
