Celebrate joyfully while you learn how to make three beautiful Christmas cards using Altenew's new Festive and Joyful Ensemble.
We'll be using the Joyful Greenery Embossing Folder and Stencil set for all three cards. And, we're also using Joyful Greetings Stamp and Die sets on all of the cards too.
Celebrate Joyfully – Joy To The World Card
For our first project, we'll begin by embossing the pretty holly design onto an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) white card panel. Following that, we're going to use non-traditional Christmas colors, turquoise, teal, and coral pink to stencil over the embossing.
While we have our inks handy, we'll stamp “Joy” and “To the World” with teal ink. Following that we'll color in the Joy with a coral pink alcohol marker that matches the ink we stenciled with. Now, we'll die-cut the Joy and a piece to put our sentiment on using the cardstock we stamped “To the World” on. I chose an Art Deco type shape but you can really use anything.
Assembly is quick. We'll trim a piece of coral pink cardstock to A2 size and attach it to a white A2 card base with glue tape. Next, we'll trim our card panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and use the glue tape to attach it centered on the card front. Then, we'll pop up the sentiment plaque with foam tape and attach it about two-thirds from the top. And finally, we'll also pop up “Joy” with foam tape and attach it right above “To the World”.
Celebrate Joyfully – Kraft Joy Card
We're going to emboss another white A2 card panel for our second project. But, before we do we'll rub a green ink pad onto the embossing folder which will give us this lovely green background color for our card. We'll follow that by stenciling just the berries with pretty red ink.
Next, we'll stamp our sentiments with crisp black ink. We'll stamp the solid joy on white cardstock. And then, we'll stamp “may the season bring you on kraft cardstock making sure that there is plenty of room to die-cut a 2 3/8″ circle around it. Once the ink is dry then we'll go ahead and die-cut them.
Go ahead and die-cut three more white joy outlines and stack them up with liquid glue behind the inked Joy. Following that, go ahead and glue it below the sentiment on the kraft circle.
To assemble this card we'll trim the card panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″. And then, we'll wrap some twine around it about two-thirds from the top. You can fasten down the ends with liquid glue. Next, we'll pop it up the card panel centered on the card base with foam tape.
To finish the card, we'll pop up the circle right on top of where the twine comes together on the card front.
Celebrate Joyfully – Wishing You Peace, Love, & Joy Card
Our third card is beautiful with its stark white background. And, just a hint of sparkly red that really makes the sentiment pop.
Once again, we're going to emboss another white A2 card panel. And, we're going to leave it white. Next, we'll stamp the sentiments in black ink again. But we'll step it up a notch by heat-embossing them with clear embossing powder. As a result, the embossing powder will give it some dimension and shine.
We'll make the “joy” sentiment just like we did for the second card. And then we'll trim the sentiment down to about a quarter inch by 4″. Next, we'll trim a piece of red glitter paper to 1/2″ x 4″.
To assemble the card we'll trim the card panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and pop it up on the card base with foam tape. Next, we'll attach the long sentiment strip centered on the glitter paper strip with liquid glue. Following that, we'll glue it to the card front about two-thirds from the top. And finally, we'll glue the “Joy” at the end.
