This candy hearts card is perfect for anyone you are sweet on. Learn how to make it and what to use right here.
Is candy hearts one of your favorite Valentine’s Day candies? They are mine. The stamp that we’re featuring, House Mouse Candy Hearts from Spellbinders, has a cute little mouse lying in a pile of them.
We’re doing simple coloring with colored pencils for this card. And, to make it unique we’re using pink cardstock for the card panel. So, to begin you’ll want to stamp the image and the sentiments onto an A2 (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″) piece of the cardstock. I recommend that you use a stamp positioning tool so that you can restamp if you need to.
Once the ink is dry, then you can do all of the coloring. Candy hearts candy comes in pink, purple, yellow, green, orange, and blue so that is how we will color the hearts on our card. Beginning with a lighter tone of each color and then shading with a darker one. And then, we’ll use shades of brown for the mouse’s hair and the shadows on his mouth. But, for his face, paws, ear, and tail we’ll use a cream color to lighten the pink a little.
Assembly is a breeze. Trim the card panel to 3 3/4″ x 5″, and a black accent panel to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. Or, if you have trouble getting your cuts straight like I do, use rectangle dies to die-cut them. Center them and use a tape runner to fasten them down.
