The cooler months are calling — and that means it’s the perfect time to stock up on winter cards! Whether you’re planning ahead for the holidays or simply want to send a little warmth to someone you love, handmade cards are always the most meaningful choice. Today, we’re diving into three gorgeous Snowflake Kisses cards that are as fun to make as they are to give. Each one uses a different technique, so there’s something here for every skill level.

These three cards each have their own personality — from an all-over snowflake background to a striking wreath focal point to a beautifully dimensional layered design. Mix and match them to create a full set of winter greetings, or focus on the one that speaks to you most.

How to Make 3 Snowflake Kisses Cards

Card 1: Sugarplum Wishes Snowflakes Kisses Card

The first card is all about dimension, and we’re using the Layered Snowflakes Etched Dies by Lisa Horton to deliver just that.

Here’s how to put it together:

1. Die-cut all your snowflake pieces. Cut each layer from different colors or finishes — this is where the magic happens! The combination of blues and purples create a perfect wintry scene. Try cutting the largest snowflake shadow piece from Cosmic Sky to really make the snowflake pop off the card front. And then die-cut the others from coordinating cardstock colors for contrast.
2. Build your layers. Stack the snowflake pieces from largest to smallest. You could even use foam adhesive between each layer to add more lift and dimension if you want to.
3. Add details. Add a gem, ink the edges of each layer in a coordinating color, or add a spritz of glitter for extra holiday sparkle.
4. Mount on your card base. Center the layered snowflake on your card and add a hot-foiled, stamped or die-cut sentiment beneath it to complete the design.

Tip: For even more shimmer, lightly mist the finished snowflake with a pearl spray before mounting.

Card 2: Let It Snow Snowflake Kisses Card

For the second card, the star of the show is the Snowflake Wreath Etched Dies by Lisa Horton.

Here’s how to put it together:

1. Die-cut your wreath pieces. Work through each of the 5 outer or wreath dies of the set, cutting from cardstock in coordinating colors. For my card, I’m sticking with the blue and purple theme; however, you could use metallic cardstock, foiled accents, or glitter papers that would work beautifully here too.
2. Layer the wreath. Start with the outline and build up the layers. You can use foam adhesive between pieces again, or you can pop up the whole wreath to create dimension.
3. Mount and finish. Adhere the wreath to your card base and add a sentiment inside the center circle for a polished, professional finish.

Tip: Layer different shades of the same color family — like ice blue, navy, and silver — for a sophisticated, wintry look.

Card 3: Most Wonderful Time Snowflake Kisses Card

This third card uses the Snowflake Background Etched Dies by Lisa Horton to create an eye-catching all-over snowflake pattern. Honestly? I didn’t think I was going to like this card, but oh my it is beautiful with all it’s wintry glitz!

Here’s how to put it together:

1. Die-cut your background panel. The die set comes with a “frame” that you can either use to create a shadow or use with the background cover die to create your design. Start by die-cutting the shadow first. I use cascade cardstock for this. Then, run your chosen coordinating cardstock (I use Lavender) through your die-cutting machine with the Snowflake Background die and the frame. Next is the step that really makes the card pop. We’re adding detail to the design with the snowflake dies from the Snowflake Wreath die set. For a shimmery, festive look, try holographic cardstock — the metallic surface really highlights every delicate detail.
2. Mount your panel. Fasten the background snowflake design to the shadow with liquid glue. Trim a white A2 size card base down to 4″ x 5 1/4″, which will fit nicely behind the design without showing. Adhere the die-cut panel and shadow directly to your card base with a tape runner. Add the snowflakes with a dab of glue at an angle where the background design shows too.
3. Add a sentiment. A simple stamped or foiled greeting in silver or white ink keeps the focus on that gorgeous snowflake texture.

Tip: Try ink blending over the die-cut panel before mounting it for a soft, wintry ombre effect in cool blues and silvers.
