How To Make A Snow Angel Card! Day 21

Snow Angel Cards are so much fun! Read on to learn how to make this darling interactive card in this article.

I grew up in Wisconsin where there was plenty of snow to play in. Furthermore, the memory of being a kid, laying in the first snow of the year creating snow angels is a pleasant one.

Recently, my Mom had hip replacement surgery and, she has to do exercises that remind her of doing snow angels. As a result, my Mom and that memory are the inspiration for the card for Day 21 of the Twenty-five Days of Christmas Cards. This one’s for you Mom!

To create the card I am going to show you how to create the background and color the focal image. But, for the assembly of the interactive mechanism, I am going to refer to the following video that Julie Ebersole has out there on YouTube. Keep reading to find the video down below in this article.

Coloring Modeling Paste

The background is leftover from the custom color modeling paste that I use in this article: LEARN HOW TO MAKE A SILENT NIGHT CARD – 8. However, here is how to create it if you don’t have any leftovers from that card:

Using White Hero Paste, we’ll put three small dabs (about a tablespoon) onto our palette or a glass craft mat. We do this because we’re going to create three shades of blue paste with it.

To do so, we’ll add a drop of Inker from each of the colors listed in the supplies onto the paste dabs. Mix the inker into each dab of paste with the palette knife until well blended. Furthermore, we’ll make sure to clean the palette knife well after each color. Finally, one at a time, we’ll pick up a bit of the paste and apply it onto an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) piece of white cardstock. Take care to blend the colors just a little bit to get the variation of color.

Once the paste is down, sprinkle micro glitter over it and leave it until the modeling paste is dry.

Stamping and Coloring the Snow Angel Card

Using black multi-media ink, we’ll stamp all the images of the little girl. And then, while we’re at it we’ll stamp the swishes that she makes in the snow with blue ink that coordinates with the colors we use in the modeling paste.

Next, we’re going to color the little girl’s body, arms, and legs. To demonstrate, we’ll use alcohol markers in three shades of violet. Beginning with the lightest marker, color everything but her face, hair, and boots. Following that, add pigment to where the darkest shadows will be with the darkest violet. Finally, blend the two colors together with the middle violet.

Using the same technique, we’ll color the boots with cool grays. And then, we’ll only use two colors of beige for her face, and her hair.

Following that, we’re going to to really make the image pop with a little coloring with three shades of magenta colored pencils. For example, the pink in the colored pencils contrasts with the blue-violet of the markers and creates a lot of dimension and interest. Similarly, we use the dark-colored pencil over where the darkest marker is used, and we’ll blend with the lighter colors.

And finally, don’t forget to add a little pink to her cheeks.
