BetterPress Club Kits Groovy Cards

The groovy November 2023 BetterPress monthly plate will remind you of the '70's.

This letterpress plate is chock full of beautiful detail from edge to edge that is great for coloring. Because of that, I take advantage of the white space in the three projects pictured above. I start all three cards the same way, by coloring the three corners in the center with colored pencils.

And, that is all the coloring that I do for the first card other then adding a little of the same colors to the sentiment. But then, I trim down the panel to 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and then frame it with yellow, orange, and red cardstock. Each frame is 1/4″larger on both sides than the one before it.

The second card adds colored pencil colors and more of it to fill out the center of the panel. And, then the third card uses alcohol markers to color almost the whole panel with much bolder colors.

Clear Stamp & Die Club Kits

Four slimline cards were created using sentiments from the November 2023 Clear Stamp and Die Club kits from Spellbinders.

The November 2023 Clear Stamp and Die set is an extremely versatile sentiment set. It has five large stamps written in a beautiful scripty font: you, for, hello, sending, and happy. And then it has twelve smaller strip type sentiments that you can mix and match with the large ones for many occasions.

I created four projects for you with it and the Sunflower Border BetterPress plate to give you inspiration for using this set. For example, the cards use “You are adored”, “Happy Birthday”, “Sending Love & Happiness”, and “You Are in My Thoughts” from the set.

Large Die Club Kits

The November large die of the month is a lot of fun. For my projects for this club I made six cards using the same basic arrangement and background. But, I changed the colors for each die-cut to make them very different. Don't you love how bright and beautiful these notecards turned out?

Die-cutting For The Autumn Colored Stitching Cards

This lovely die set creates a huge layered flower that lends itself beautifully to sitting atop a detailed background. I use patterned paper with fall-colored leaves and dainty gold accents that frame the flower. That makes the color choices easy because you want to use those that match the paper.

I like to die-cut all my pieces first and then I lay them out to get a feel for where everything will go. That is what I did with the die-cuts for the lighter card. I was casually putting them in place as I cut them and noticed that the flower kind of looked like the wind was blowing it apart. I liked it, so decided to do the card like that rather than with the petals perfectly in place. Then I decided to make another card with the stem facing the opposite direction. For it, we will attach the petals in place.

The next thing to do is the stitching. To pull out the gold in the patterned paper I use gold metallic thread on the flower. And then, I use variegated green floss for the leaves.

Assembling The Autumn-Colored Stitching Cards

Assembly is pretty straightforward for these cards. Start with trimming a piece of brown cardstock to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ and center it on a white A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card base with a tape runner. Following that, we'll trim the patterned paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and center it on the brown cardstock with a tape runner.

To put the flowers together, you'll want to use liquid glue. And it is easiest if you assemble all of the green pieces first. Then hold it in your hand, add liquid glue, and fasten the large flower base to the stem. At this point, you can use liquid glue to fasten the flower base and stem to the card front. Following that you can go ahead and attach the rest of the petals and flower pieces.

All that is left is to die-cut the sentiments from brushed gold cardstock and attach them to the card front with liquid glue.
