Our first project is the “Let’s Stick Together” anniversary card. This card is perfect for celebrating a long-lasting relationship and is a great way to use up some of those smaller, leftover supplies.

Gather Your Supplies To Mash Up For Let's Stick Together

Before you start, gather the following:

  • Cardstock
  • Dye Inks
  • Paint Brush
  • Water Container
  • Adhesive
  • Stamps & Dies – Brutus Monroe’s With Thorns is the featured stamp
  • Heat Embossing Powder – Brutus Monroe’s Sandstone is the featured embossing powder

And, if you’d like to use what we did to make this card:

Creating the Base and Background

Start with a piece of cardstock folded in half. This will be your card base. Choose a neutral color.  Select cardstock for your color panel that complements your dye inks.  Then, trim the color panel 1/4″ smaller than the card base on all four sides.  Blend ink onto the center of the color panel.  We use Ginger Dye ink for our background.  Fasten the color panel centered on the card base with a tape runner.

Designing the Front

  1. Heat Emboss The Focal Point and Sentiments:
  • Select embossing powders that are suited to your card design.
  • Brush the cardstock with anti-static powder and then stamp the images.
  • Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped images and then pour it off.
  • Heat up your tool and then melt the powder (read How To Heat Emboss for tips and trick to get high quality heat embossing results).
  1. Paint With Dye Inks:
  • Smoosh a variety of dye inks on a glass or non-porous surface.
  • Pick up a small amount of water on your paint brush and then dip it in the dye ink and begin painting.
  • Blending colors help you to achieve depth and beauty.
  1. Final Touches:
  • Die-cut your designs or sentiments.
  • Layer them.
  • Arrange them on your card front and fasten them down.

Next up is the “Celebrate Your Day” anniversary card, which focuses on celebrating the special day with elegance and style.

Gather Your Mash Up Supplies

You will need the following:

  • Cardstock
  • Tool To Create Wreaths
  • Small stamps and ink
  • Water Reactive Colored Pencils
  • Embossing Powder
  • Adhesive

Creating the Base

Select white heavy-weight cardstock such as Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Solar White and fold it in half to form your card base. Trim a piece of  Christmas Pine cardstock to A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) and attach it to the card base using a tape runner.  Read How To Align A Card Base Squarely for help.  Next, trim a piece of brushed gold cardstock to 3.75″ x 5.”  (or you can use the third largest die in the Precision Layering A2 A Die set if you prefer) .  Fasten it centered on the cardfront with the tape runner also.

Designing the Front

  1. Stamping Wreath Layers:
  • Select your choice of small flower design to create a wreath shape.  Use the lines on the Spin and Stamp tool to help to align the design.  Stamp with Nocturne ink, move to the next position and stamp again.  Repeat seven times.
  • Pick another stamp to fill in areas that look like they need something and repeat the process.
  1. Color The Wreath:
  • Use water resistant color pencils to add color to the design.  Blending more than one color adds interest and dimension.
  • Add water to the coloring to bring it to life.
  1. Heat Emboss The Sentiment:
  • Place the stamps right in the center of the wreath and pick it up with the tool.  Heat emboss it with gold embossing powder
  • Blend a coordinating color over the sentiment to draw your eye to it.
  1. Finishing Touches:
  • Trim the wreath panel to 3.65 x 4.9  (or you can use the third largest die in the Precision Layerin A2 B Die set
  • Carefully fasten the card panel centered on the gold panel.
