Are you ready for this? I am so excited to introduce the new Every Occasion Floral Alphabet Collection from Spellbinders! What is super cool is that you can use the letter on its own. But you can also use it with the sentiment that comes with it or the ampersand. You can buy the whole alphabet bundled at a discounted price, or just one at a time.
For example, I am featuring three of the letters in my projects today, the C Floral – congratulations, D Floral – Delivering Happiness, and F Floral – For You.
Lets take a look at them.
Every Occasion Floral Congratulations Card
Our first project uses colorful cardstock to frame the beautiful focal point and make it pop. The first step to make it is to press the letter and sentiment on bisque cotton cardstock and black ink. Next, we need to color the floral images. They are very small, so you need to use products that allow you to get the color in those tiny little spaces. Water-reactive colored pencils are a perfect choice because you can sharpen them to ensure that you can place the pigment where you need it to be. And, you can blend the color and achieve beautiful, vibrant colors.
To duplicate the card in the photo, apply the pigment as follows:
- Large Flowers – Orange Cream, Lavender Fields in the center
- Tiny flowers – Turquiose
- Leaves – Fresh Lemon on tips, Grass Fields, Shadow Creek, and Moss at base of leaves
Once the coloring is complete, die-cut the image with an oval die. While we have the die-cutting machine out go ahead and die-cut the bright blue cardstock that pulls the turquoise out in the tiny flowers with the fluted rectangle die.
All that is left is to assemble the card. We'll start by trimming a piece of purple cardstock to A2 size. Then, we'll fasten it to a white A2 card base with a tape runner. Following that, pop up the fluted rectangle with a foam sheet. Also, use a foam sheet to pop up the pressed oval. And, that's it.
Every Occasion Floral Delivering Happiness Card
For this project, we're using a bright, colorful background to make the black-and-white focal point stand out.
The first step is the same as for the first card, except that we're using porcelain cotton cardstock instead of bisque. Once the D and sentiment have been pressed, we'll go ahead and fussy-cut them out.
Next, we'll use brushmarkers to create a lovely background. To do so, we'll draw flowers similar to those in the pressed design with the Brushmarker Pros onto watercolor cardstock. And then just squiggle some lines between them in green. Following that, use a watercolor brush marker with water in it to activate the pigments. This is a wonderful way to get vibrant, watercolor type images. The colors that I use on my card are:
- Fire Red 092
- Cerise 375
- Red Lilac 358
- Gold 283
- Grass 253
- Turquoise 654
The last thing to do is assemble the card. I like to use rectangle dies to ensure that my card panels are square, however, you can trim them with a paper trimmer if you like. We need the painted panel trimmed to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and black cardstock trimmed to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″. Once they're cut out, fasten the painted panel centered on the black panel with a tape runner. Also use the tape runner to fasten them to an A2 card panel.
Lastly, pop up the focal point with foam squares on top. And that's it.
Every Occasion Floral For You Card
Our last card is a beautiful clean and simple card. We're using the basics of what we did on the first two cards.
To begin, we'll press the plate and sentiment onto bisque cotton cardstock with black ink. We'll use monochromatic colors of water-reactive colored pencils to color the flowers and greens for the greenery.
This is what I used:
- Rubellite
- Ruby Red
- Crimson
- Heart Beat
- Coral Bliss
- Fresh Lemon
- Grass Fields
- Shadow Creek
- Moss
Once the coloring is done, go ahead and trim the card panel to 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.
We're going clean and simple, but that doesn't mean we can't add some bling. Use an embossing pen to color in each of the flower centers. Then, rub the edges of the card panel across a
Trim a piece of dahlia cardstock to 3 3/8″ x 4 7/8″ and then fasten the card panel centered on it with a tape runner. And then fasten them centered onto a white A2 size card panel using the tape runner again.
