How To Make My Fav Christmas Card – 7

A Christmas card displaying red poinsettias and gold foliage on a black background with the text "SEASON'S GREETINGS" in the top right corner, placed on a wooden surface.

This is my all-time fav Christmas card of all time. The photos really don’t do it justice! The bright red flowers contrast beautifully with the black background. And then, the glitter brings in the magic of Christmas.

My fav Christmas card is stunning with it's red poinsettias on black background with it's coordinating glittery gold pattern.

I learned how to make this card during a class taught by @DanielWest during the Hero Holiday Stamp-Along from @HeroArts held earlier this month.

Heat Embossing For Our Fav Christmas Card

To begin with, we’ll stamp the Poinsettia Flower Bold Prints rubber stamp twice, once with watermark ink onto black cardstock, and once with black multi-media ink on white cardstock. HINT: Make sure to use an anti-static powder tool on the black cardstock. As a result, your image will be sharp and you will not have any powder anywhere but where you intend for it to be.

Full disclosure, this next step will result in your having glitter all over your craft room. I’m just saying.

Sprinkle gold glitter embossing powder over the watermark ink and let it sit there for a minute or two. And then, heat the powder until it is melted. HINT: This embossing powder is a little temperamental but oh boy are the results fantastic! Make sure that your heat gun is good and hot and then follow the instructions on the jar.

While we’re heat embossing, let’s go ahead and do the sentiment too. Select the sentiment that you want to use from the Holiday Borders and Icons stamp set. Stamp it on a scrap of white cardstock and heat emboss it using black embossing powder.

Finishing The Card

Fussy cut out three of the poinsettia images from the ones in black ink. And then, color them with alcohol markers. Finally, color the edges of the poinsettias with a black marker.

Trim the embossed panel to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and pop it up centered on a white A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card with a double-sided adhesive foam sheet. And then, to finish the card we’ll pop up each of the poinsettias directly over their counterparts on the black cardstock. Additionally, we’ll trim down the sentiment and pop them up as well.

Bonus Fav Christmas Card

We thought that this card was so special that we’ve got it in another colorway for you as well.

Because we don’t have silver glitter embossing powder so the card in this photo has regular silver embossing powder. We recommend the glitter because it gives that magic punch!
