How To Make A Stunning Holiday Card – 17

A stunning holiday card with the text "HAPPY holidays" in gold and white glitter letters on a patterned red and white background with leaf designs.

Make a stunning holiday card for someone very special with the step-by-step instructions included here for the card for Day 17 of the Twenty-Five Days of Christmas Cards.

Stunning holiday Christmas card glistening with gold glitter and shimmery wax painted onto a heat embossed poinsettia background.

It’s really hard to describe just how beautiful this card is! It really is stunning!

@LibbyHickson taught how to make this card during this year’s Hero Holiday Stamp-Along provided by @HeroArtsStamps. And, she knocked it out of the park! She uses some fantastic techniques and even more fantastic products that result in a very special card.

To make the card, we’re going to begin by spreading some of the Berry Hero Wax onto a piece of white cardstock using a palette knife. This is a beautiful shimmery “paste” with the consistency of butter that is almost melted. Furthermore, we need to make sure that it is evenly spread onto the cardstock. And, don’t waste any of it. Either put what you don’t use back in the jar or spread it on another piece of cardstock to use later. Now, set it aside to dry.

Stamping for the Stunning Holiday Card

Next, we’re going to use a large rubber stamp, Poinsettia Flowers Bold Prints, for two different components of our card. Therefore, we’ll use a stamp positioning tool to make it easier. HINT: I like to use the stamp positioning tool with rubber stamps because it gives a better-stamped image than if I stamp by hand. And, the new Sizzix tool leaves the most beautiful images when stamping.

First, we’re going to stamp the image with watermark ink onto a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of cranberry cardstock. As a result, it will leave a subtle tone-on-tone effect. And then, we’re going to stamp the image with watermark ink again, but this time it will be on a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of cranberry cardstock. But this time we’re going to brush the cardstock with anti-static powder first.

Following the stamping, we’ll sprinkle white embossing powder over the card panel, pour it off and give it a tap. And then, heat it until it’s smooth and melted. While we’ve got our heat embossing tools out, we’ll stamp the “happy” from the happy holidays in the Holiday Borders and Icons stamp set. Next, we’ll heat and emboss the sentiment with gold embossing powder. And we’ll just trim down closely around the sentiment to finish it.

Adding Some Shimmer and Sparkle To the Stunning Holiday Card

Next, we’re going to add a little bit of the Berry Hero Wax to an acrylic block or a craft mat. And then, we’ll add just enough water to help it spread well. Following that, we will paint the wax onto the flowers and the leaves on the smaller panel, taking care not to go over the white embossing. And, we’ll set it aside to dry.

Make sure that the wax that we spread out in the very first step is dry before going on. When it is, we’ll die cut the word “holidays” from it using the Holidays Words Fancy die. Add liquid glue to the bottom half of the sentiment and then, sprinkle gold glitter over it.

While we’ve got the glitter out, we’ll add it to the painted poinsettia layer, focusing on just one side of the petals, leaves, and berries. And, we’ll sprinkle glitter over it too. Afterward, we’ll die-cut the shadow from white cardstock and attach the sentiment to it using liquid glue.

Assembly

To assemble the card, we’ll attach the large red panel to a white A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card base with a glue runner. And, we’ll also use the glue runner to attach the smaller red panel to a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of white cardstock and then attach it to the center, horizontally, of the card base.

And finally, we’ll pop up the holidays with foam Strips and then nestle the “happy” just over the h,o, and l of holidays and fasten it with liquid glue.

If you love glitter as I do, you’ll love this card! It is a really special one!
