A Mother's Day card with a floral design, featuring Altenew, stands on a white wooden surface beside make-up brushes in a beige holder, a folded green cloth, and a woven mat.

The Adore You Mother’s Day card looks like it’s complex.  But, it’s quick and easy to make this beauty.  Learn how and get the supply list here.

This is the card featured in my blog article Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 in Total Prizes!)

Step-by-Step Instructions To Make the Adore You Mother’s Day Card

Adore You Mother’s Day Card Background

  • Make a white A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) side folding card base.  Instructions on how to do so can be found HERE.
  • Trim a piece of kraft cardstock to A2 size.
  • Place the cardstock in the center of your stamp wheel.  Following that, arrange stamps from the Adore You set so that they cover the card panel.  TIP:  Be sure to have some of the stamps go off the edge of the panel.  We do this because it looks better than to have all of them inside.
  • Once you have the stamps the way you want them pick them up with the lid of the stamp wheel.
  • Brush the cardstock with anti-static powder.
  • After that, ink the stamps up with white pigment ink and then heat emboss them with white embossing powder.  Instructions on how to heat emboss can be found HERE.

Paint the Adore You Mother’s Day Card Background

  • Watercolor the floral images using pink, yellow, and green ink.
  • Begin by smooshing the ink on a non-porous surface.  After that add a small pool of water for each color.
  • Next, dab a watercolor brush marker in the water and then pick up some of the yellow ink.  Once you have your brush loaded apply the yellow to the centers of each of the flowers.
  • Additionally, add some more yellow on the petals where they meet the centers.
  • Clean the brush marker on a piece of paper towel.
  • Paint all of the underneath sides of the petal with pink.
  • Continuing with the pink, paint along the edges of each petal.

The final, and most important step is to dab the brush marker in water.  And then, blend the pink and yellow with water.

Create The Sentiment

  • With a piece of kraft cardstock in your Stampwheel, use the smaller label die as a guide to determine where to stamp the sentiment
  • Once you’ve got the stamp in place pick it up with the lid of the Stampwheel
  • Ink the stamp with watermark ink  and then heat emboss it with white embossing powder
  • Die-cut the sentiment
  • Die-cut the larger label die from white cardstock
  • Use liquid glue to attach the sentiment to the white shadow label

Assemble The Card

  • Trim the background panel to 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.
  • Starting in the front with about 8″ to use to tie the bow, wrap white twine around the card three times.  Leave another 8″ at the center also to tie the bow and cut it off.
  • Tie a pretty bow and trim the ends of the twine.
  • Attach the background centered on the card base with Altenew Double-sided Adhesive Sheets.
  • Pop up the sentiment with foam tape.
