Celebrate with a Dancin’ & Giftin’ Mouse!

To make this one, we’ll use the Dancin’ & Giftin’ Mouse from the Dancin’ Christmas Collection in Spellbinders’ September 10th Release. We’ll begin by die-cutting. And when we do this, I always recommend that you use up your cardstock scraps for this kind of card. But if you want to use the same Spellbinders cardstock that I do, then here is what you will need:

• Scarf & Pants – pomegranate
• Ears, cheeks, nose, paws, & tail – Pink Sand
• Gift Box – Forest
• Box Lid – Fern
• Boots – Onyx
• Soles – Graphite
• Face – Fog
• Sweater – Snowdrift
• Ribbon – Brushed Silver

To add some texture to the mouse’s sweater, I embossed it with the Ski Lodge embossing folder.

Once you have all the die-cutting complete then go ahead and glue everything together with liquid glue. Please note: Do not glue the pants to the sweater.

Dancin’and Giftin’ Mouse Sentiment and Background

The new Comfort & Joy sentiments are perfect for mass-producing sentiments for Christmas cards. For example, to make this one, we’ll use silver hot foil on white cardstock. And then, we’ll die-cut it with the coordinating dies that come with the set.

We’ll create a striking background for the card by embossing an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) white cardstock. And then we’ll blend a couple of shades of green across the lower third of the panel when vertical. Following that, we’ll blend some red ink over the rest of the panel. After that, we can attach the background to a white card base with a tape runner.

Dancin Assembly

Putting this bad boy together is quite simple. Firstly, you kind of layout where you want everything to be. Make sure that the mouse’s legs can move freely in the position that you have it. Once you’ve done so, then you can attach a foam circle right in the center of the circle that has been cut out of his pants.

What I recommend that you do next is add a little liquid glue to the back of the gift box and fasten it onto the card front. Then, you’ll want to add some foam squares behind the mouse’s head, arm & scarf. HINT: Make sure that you don’t have any foam squares in the way of the legs when they move. Now, remove the backing paper and carefully lower the mouse down to the card front. Make any necessary adjustments and then fasten it down.

All that is left to do is pop up the sentiment. I suggest that you use a double layer of snipped foam squares to give it a little dimension. And that’s it, our fun little card is complete.
