Birthday Silhouette Sunset

Birthday card with a tropical silhouette and a beautiful sunset.

Silhouette Sunset birthday cards are super special! Want to learn how to make this one? Keep reading for step-by-step instructions.

It’s my husband’s birthday today. And so he will get a silhouette card with one of our favorite things, a sunset, on it. This card is super easy to make and the results are stunning!

Blending

To begin with, we’ll use the four colors of Fresh Dye ink to create the sunset. Beginning with the lightest color, Sunray, we’ll blind a little more than on quarter of the way down from the top. Next, we’ll blend into the Sunray with Chamomile and go just a little more than halfway with it.

HINT: I love Altenew’s large blending brushes and X-Press-It Blending cardstock for this type of blending. The two pair provide a beautiful smooth blend.

We’ll follow the Chamomile with Snapdragon. And then, we’ll finish this layer of blending with Terra Cotta. But, we’re not finished with our blending yet. Now, we’re going to blend in reverse order. By doing so, the colors will melt into each other.

Silhouette

Next, we’ll pop the panel into a stamp positioning tool and place the palm silhouette stamp right where we want it to be. I choose to place it where the palm on the right slightly runs off of the edge of the cardstock. I do so because I want to see the little tuft that raises up on the left-hand side of the panel.

Once we’re happy with our placement we’ll pick the stamp up with the lid. And then, we’ll ink it up real good with black ink and then stamp our image. We may have to stamp the image several times to get a good solid one.

Now, we’ll stamp the sentiments in the same way. I call my husband Baby. So I personalize his card by adding it by masking and stamping it.

Now, let’s trim the card panel to 3 3/4″ x 5″. I do so with a rectangle die to ensure the cuts are square. And then, we’ll attach the panel with a tape runner and that is all there is to this beautiful card.

Happy Birthday to the love of my life!
