How To Make 4 Cute Cards!

Three cute cards are displayed: one featuring gift boxes with ribbons, and two others with dog illustrations holding birthday and love messages. The DIY cards are laid out on a wooden surface.

You can make 4 cute cards like this using products from the latest Stampendous Release. Read on to learn how.

Puppy Shape Card – Card 1 of 4 Cute Cards

A whimsical dog illustration holding a blue banner that reads, "I love you this much!" The white dog with brown patches stands on a wooden surface—perfect for anyone looking to create cute DIY cards.

This is the perfect card to make for anyone that you love! And it’s a breeze to create it.

We’ll begin with an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) top folding card base. And, you’ll want to prepare to die-cut the puppy by ensuring that the die is set just above the fold mark. In other words, the die will be slightly off of the ears. And then, use your normal sandwich to run it through our die-cutting machine.

Next, we’ll do some stamping with black multi-media ink. We’ll stamp the puppy’s face on our card front. Next, we’ll stamp “I love you this much” on a scrap of light blue cardstock. And then, we’ll die-cut the sentiment with a banner die.

Coloring

We just need three markers to color this cutie. First, we’ll color his tongue with a dusty pink. Next, we’ll add his spots. And, we’ll do this by dabbing the tip of the marker onto the cardstock rather than brushing on the color.

We do so because we want to add texture to his coat. And then, we’ll dab some more with a darker red-brown along the spot lines on his face and with a darker red-brown and the bottoms of the spots on his sides.

Finally, we’ll add dimension by brushing warm gray under his chin, on his sides, and between his legs.

To complete the card, all we have to do is pop up the banner with some foam tape.

Puppy Pair – Card 2 of 4 Cute Cards

Two cute cartoon dogs holding a pink banner that says "Happy Birthday!" against a blue sky and green grass background, perfect for DIY cards.
A cute card featuring two cartoon dogs standing on grass, holding a pink banner that reads "Happy Birthday!"—perfect for card making enthusiasts!

We’ll begin this card by blending the background onto a piece of white cardstock. We’ll blend about an inch across the bottom of the long side with grass-green ink. And, we’ll blend the rest of the panel with sky blue. HINT: leave the blue kind of patchy to give the look of clouds in the sky.

We create mirror images of the puppy for this card. And, we do so just by stamping and coloring on opposite sides of our die cuts. We’ll die-cut one puppy from white cardstock and another from dark kraft. And, we might as well die-cut the banner from pink cardstock while we have our die-cutting machine out.

Coloring and Assembling

We’ll color the white pup just like we did the one on the first card, but we’ll make his spots gray instead of red-brown. And, for the brown puppy, we’ll use a little darker warm gray for his shadows. Next, we’ll put a little pink on their cheeks. And then, we’ll use a cream-colored pencil for his muzzle and white for his eyes and the bone.

Finally, we’ll brighten their eyes by adding a dot of white gel pen in the black of their eyes.

To assemble the card, we’ll attach the card panel to the card base using a tape runner. Next, we’ll attach the pups to the card front using liquid glue. HINT: Make sure not to glue the white pup’s left paw free and the brown one’s right paw. We leave them free because we will fold them along the scoreline so that they can hold up the banner.

But first, we’ll go ahead and add some shadows to the banner with light gray. And then, we’ll pop it up with foam tape. Lastly, we’ll add a little piece of foam tape to the back of both pup’s free paws and fasten them to the banner.

Big Dog – Card 3 of 4 Cute Cards

A handmade birthday card showcases a cartoon dog holding a bone-shaped banner that says "Yappy Birthday, You're the Big Dog Today!" A wrapped gift is illustrated at the bottom left corner. It's a perfect example of how to make cute cards that bring joy and smiles.
A birthday card with a dog holding a bone that says, "Yappy Birthday! You're the Big Dog Today." The background has colorful polka dots, and there's a small blue present with a pink bow at the bottom. Perfect for fans of DIY greeting cards and cute cards!

To begin, we’ll go ahead and die-cut one more puppy from Kraft cardstock. And, while we’re at it we’ll go ahead and die-cut the bone, the package, and the bow.

For this cute pup card, we’ll do the coloring a little bit differently. We’ll blend the shadowing rather than coloring them with markers. With a very light hand, we’ll brush around all the edges of the puppy die-cut. In fact, If you have a brush with brown on it, just go ahead and use it.

Next, we’ll stamp his face with black multi-media ink and we’ll color his eye, nose, and tongue with colored pencils. Next, we’ll use the same blending brush and lightly blend all the edges of the bone. And then, we’ll stamp the sentiment centered in the middle using teal ink.

Assembly

Believe it or not, all that is left is assembly. First, we’ll fasten an A2 bright blue card panel to an A2 card base with a tape runner. And then, we’ll trim the patterned paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and fasten it with a tape runner as well.

Next, we’ll pop up the puppy with foam tape and then add more foam tape to the bone and attach it so that it looks like the pup is holding it with both paws.

And finally, we’ll put the gift box together. You just fold the box die-cut along the score lines. and turn it to that the cut side of the box top is facing you. And then, you’ll also fold the ribbon and fasten the ends together with a dab of liquid glue. Followed by, sliding the box inside the ribbon and then fastening the bow on top with another dab of liquid glue. Then, we’ll just pop the box up with foam tape and that is it for this card.

Slimline Gift Messages – Card 4 of 4 Cute Cards

Rectangular cake with three small gift boxes decorated on top, two purple and one teal, each with bows and messages: "Sending Happy" on the top left and "Luv Ya" on the bottom left. Perfect for a celebration, just like DIY cards or cute cards you make yourself!
Handmade greeting card with three gift boxes in shades of purple and teal, decorated with ribbons, displayed on a wooden surface. Ideal for those passionate about card making or looking for inspiration on how to make cute cards.

We’re going to switch it up a little bit with this card. The dies in this accessories die set are so cute that I thought it would be fun to create a card just with them.

These little gift boxes can be used so many different ways. You can put them on the insides of your cards, fasten them to gifts, stick them in lunch boxes, you name it. For that reason, I die-cut a gazillion of each piece and assemble them. That way I have them ready to use whenever I need them.

The hugs sentiments pair beautifully and can be either stamped or heat embossed. I like to use heat embossing with white when I’m adding sentiments to dark cardstock.

To create the background we’ll attach a teal slimline (4″ x 8 1/2″) card panel to a white slimline card base with a tape runner. Next, we’ll die-cut the slimline frame from a white slimline panel making sure that it is centered. And then we’ll pop it up on the card front using foam tape.

Create Your Own Background for Card 4 of 4 Cute Cards

To create our confetti background we’ll take another white slimline panel and we’ll splatter ink on it. To do this, we’ll smush some of the ink onto an acrylic block. Then, we’ll add a little water to dilute it and then brush the ink over the edge of the block onto our panel.

Clean your brush and block well before moving on to the next color, and repeat. This is a perfect technique for creating a pretty background when you don’t have a patterned paper that matches what you’re using.

The splatter dries very quickly. When you’re sure that it is dry, then trim the panel down to 2 3/4″ x 7 1/2″. And then draw on a stitched edge with a colored gel pen. And then, we’ll pop it up centered on the card front with foam tape.

Gift Boxes

All that is left is to attach the gift boxes. Arrange them the way you want them to be on your card front. And then, attach the top and bottom ones with liquid glue. HINT: be sure not to get any glue on your little note cards.

To make the card extra special we’ll make the gift box in the center wobbly. To do so you just fasten a “wobble” to the back of the gift box using the adhesive on it. And then remove the backing paper and attach it to the card.
