Day 15 of the 25 Days of Christmas brings a beautiful card with blended ornaments and lots of glitter.

Pictures just don’t do this card justice! It is absolutely magnificent! It is the genius of @NicholSpohr and she really rocks it doesn’t she?

Die-cutting for the Blended Ornament Card

To make the card we’ll begin with our die-cutting. First, we’ll die-cut the second and third largest ornaments from the infinity die set from white cardstock. Furthermore, we’ll cut the greenery from white as well.

Following that, we’ll die-cut the same ornaments from gold glitter paper and the bow from white glitter paper. And then, we’ll trim off the tops of the ornaments.

Next, we’ll stamp the poinsettia background stamp. And we’ll do so on gray cardstock using Hero Arts white core ink. HINT: Big background stamps like this usually take more than one stamping to get a good impression over the whole card panel. Therefore I like to use my stamp positioning tool to ensure that each stamp will be in the exact same place.

Once we’re sure the ink is dry, we’ll trim the card panel to A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). And then, we’ll use a blending brush and lightly blend along each edge.

Blending

This step is where the magic happens, we’re going to blend the ornaments. We’ll use Cherry and Cranberry ink for the larger one. And then, we’ll use Cotton Candy and Azalea ink for the smaller ornament.

To demonstrate, we’re going to begin lightly blending around the edges blending in tiny circles. The goal is to leave the center very light. And then, we want the edges to disappear backward so we’ll graduate the color from very light to dark. This will take going back over the blending several times before you get the blending just right. HINT: Take care to blend in a circle rather than following the outline at the top of the ornament. We do this because we want to give the impression that the ornament is round.

Following the ornaments, we’ll blend the holly branch with a light blending of Soft Olive and then darken towards the centers with Forever Green. And then, we’ll blend the other branch in the same way with Green Apple, and Pine.

The last bit of blending is the holly berries on both of the branches. And we’re going to use Cherry ink to do them.

Finishing and Assembly

Cut off the tops from the glitter ornament die-cuts and glue them to the blended ones with liquid glue.

Next, to get an idea of where to add the sentiment, we’ll arrange the ornaments and the branches where we want them to be on the card. And then, we’ll stamp the sentiment at the bottom of the card panel with black ink.

Following that, we’ll heat emboss the glittery stars on the ornaments. To demonstrate, we’ll brush the ornaments with anti-static powder and then stamp them with watermark ink. And then, we’ll sprinkle gold glitter embossing powder over the stamped stars, pour it off and give it a good tap. Finally, we’ll heat it until the powder is melted.

Finish the card by attaching the branches and the larger ornament, and the bow with liquid glue. And then pop up the small ornament with foam tape or foam sheet.
