Let’s make a non-traditional Nordic Noel card for Day 4 of our 25 days of Christmas. Or, even better lets make 3!
All three cards are very similar in the way you make them. Therefore, this article will only describe the steps to make them once, but we’ll call out where there is something unique to a card. for example, to differentiate between the cards we’ll call the cards Teal, White on White, and Rainbow.
Backgrounds
We’ll begin by creating the backgrounds for two of the cards by blending with non-traditional Christmas colors; bright pink, bright yellow, a light teal, and a medium teal. For the Teal Noel card we’ll just blend little circles of each color randomly over a white A2 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock until all the white is covered.
For the Rainbow Noel card we’ll blend a rainbow diagonally across a white A2 piece of cardstock with the same colors beginning with the pink in the lower left corner. Then we’ll add the yellow, and light teal. Then we’ll blend the medium teal from the upper left corner to the lower right hand corner.
Similarly, we’ll reverse the order for the rest of the card panel adding light teal, yellow, and pink.
Once the backgrounds are dry we can attach them to their card bases using a glue runner.
Die-cutting For Our Nordic Noel Cards
The dies come with dies for the letters spelling Noel. Additionally, they have coordinating shadow dies. As a result, we’ll cut two shadows; one from white cardstock and one from light teal cardstock. HINT: Regardless if you have light teal cardstock or not you can make your own by blending the light teal ink onto white cardstock.
Next we’ll cut two sets of Noel die-cuts from white cardstock and one set from medium teal cardstock. HINT: triple the die-cuts if you like a lot of dimension. Then you can layer them together with liquid glue.
Assembly
All that is left is to assemble our cards. To do so, we’ll attach one set of the white Noel die-cuts to the Rainbow background using liquid glue and slightly angling the two pieces opposite directions.
Next, we’ll glue the medium teal die-cut Noel to the white shadow and then attach it to the randomly colored background card with liquid glue.
Finally, we’ll attach the last white Noel die cut to the light teal shadow. And then we’ll also use liquid glue to attach the shadow to a white A2 card base. And to complete the card, we’ll use coordinating enamel shapes to add color to the die-cut letters. HINT: I like to use the blade of a craft knife to pick the embellishments up off of the holding paper and add them to the die-cuts.
And that’s it, three quick and easy, beautiful Nordic Noel cards.
