4 Holiday Greeting Cards #1: The Love & Snowflakes Card

Our first card celebrates the delicate beauty of winter with darling little snowmen that cover the card. This elegant design captures the magic of snowmen while conveying heartfelt holiday wishes.
How to Create This Beautiful Card:
Start by setting up your BetterPress system according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The card features Spellbinders “Made with Snowflakes” plate that has an intricate snowman pattern and the sentiment “Made with Love & Snowflakes” that creates stunning letterpress effects.
Place your platinum Betterpress plate on the magnetic chase. Apply your black ink evenly across the plate surface, ensuring every delicate detail is covered. The snowman patterns will create a gorgeous background texture that feels luxurious to the touch.
Run the assembled sandwich through your die-cutting machine, applying firm, even pressure. When you lift the plate, you’ll reveal beautifully embossed snowmen that cover the panel.
Use water reactive colored penciles like Derwent Inktense to color the hats, noses, and the ground for all of the little snowmen. Use the blue that you use for the ground to create a background for your sentiment too. Add a little glitter over just the shadow marks on each little snowman for some sparkle.
The finished card showcases the elegant interplay between the detailed snowman background and the playful sentiment, creating a perfect balance of sophistication and warmth.

4 Holiday Greeting Cards #2: Very Merry Christmas Card

How to Create This Festive Card:
Begin by stamping your the big tree image from Spellbinders Clear Stamp & Die of the Month, “To You & Yours” onto white cardstock. But you’re not going to do this any old way, you’re going to use metallic inks: Red and gold in the center of the tree and a green gold combination around the edges. This stamp acts as a beautiful standalone focal point. Go ahead and blend some of the green gold ink on a piece of white cardstock while you have your ink and brushes handy. You can even add some detail to the design with a gold gel pen if you like.
Once your images are stamped and completely dry, use the coordinating die to cut them out precisely. You’ll also want to die-cut a brushed gold frame and a pretty bow from the green gold that you blended.
Add some shimmery accents to your stamped images using a gold or sparkly gel pen, or watercolor paints. This stamp has a lot of fine details that are perfect for adding some umf beautifully, making coloring a joy rather than a challenge.
Create depth and visual interest by mounting some elements on foam tape, allowing certain parts of your design to pop off the card surface. Layer different colored cardstocks to create a rich, festive background that complements your colored images perfectly.

4 Holiday Greeting Cards #3:
The Frohe Weihnachten Card

How to Create This International Delight:
Position the “Frosty Wishes” stencil on your white cardstock, securing it carefully to prevent shifting during the blending process. I use the Stamp and Stencil tool for all of my stenciling. This stencil features beautiful winter motifs that create stunning backgrounds. PRO TIP: There are a lot of tools that you can use for stenciling: low tack tape, grip mats, etc. I use the Stamp and Stencil tool for all of my stenciling.
Using blending tools to apply ink through the stencil openings. Start with lighter colors and gradually build up to deeper shades, creating a natural gradient effect that mimics shading on the snowman’s features and the background.
The beauty of stenciling lies in the soft, organic results you achieve. Each card will have its own unique character, even when using the same stencil and color palette.
For extra elegance, consider adding a shimmery paste to the hat band. Set aside to dry while you work on the inside of the card.
Die-cut the string of lights using dies from the Large Die of the Month kit. Also die-cut “Frohe Weihnachten” greeting using Spellbinders’ new international greeting die sets. Add the lights and sentiment on the inside of the card using liquid glue.

4 Holiday Greeting Cards #4: The Season Full of Wonder Card

Create something truly spectacular with this month’s Large Die of the Month. The “Window Wonderland” die set opens up a world of creative possibilities for your holiday cardmaking.
How to Create This Show-Stopping Card:
The “Window Wonderland” die set creates intricate window scenes that serve as perfect frames for your holiday imagery. Start by die-cutting all of the elements for your card in your chosen colors. These are what I use in the card in the photo:
- Window Bay Structure – Anchor (deep gray)
- Trim – Alabaster
- Window Shadow, Gloves, Boots, Sled, Sled Handle – Raven
- Inside Window – Fawn
- Trees – Fern
- Lights – Poppy, Carrot, Beeswax, Peridot, Cosmic Sky, Brushed Silver
- Star – Brushed Gold
- Shorts, Vest, Socks – Cosmic Sky
- Hat & Scarf – Poppy
- Tassel – Classic White
- Presents – Scrap Christmas Patterned Paper
- Ribbons – Mirror Gold & Silver
- Snow on Roof & In front of house – White Glitter
- Snow on road/sidewalk – Brushed White
Now, we’re going to create a scene. First, use the “Brick by Brick” 3D Embossing folder and emboss a half sheet of Merlot cardstock with it. Lightly blend white pigment ink over the top to enhance the brickes. Trim the embossed panel to 5″ wide by 5 1/2″ Tall and then create some shadows by blending deep gray ink along the left side and the bottom of the panel. Attach the background to the top of a 5″ x 7″ card base.
Next, we’ll create a scene behind your window by blending brown on the sides and the bottom leaving a space lighter where the tree will be added. Then blend some yellow around where the tree will be to “illuminate” the space. Assemble the tree and then all of the window bay structure and window elements. Use that gray ink again on the sides and bottom of the structure to add dimension. Consider adding acetate behind the window opening to simulate glass, giving your card a realistic touch.
Use a white gel pen to add snow to the outside tree and the hat and scarf. Assemble the skater with the sled and the gifts.
Finish your scene by attaching the window bay structure slightly to the right (enough to fit the tree on the left. Add snow drifts and shadows in the snow. Layer different elements to create depth. Finish off the card with a gold embossed sentiment.
The large format of this die set allows for impressive, detailed designs that make stunning focal points. These cards are sure to become keepsakes that recipients will display proudly throughout the holiday season.
