Learn how to make the Peony Perfection Hello card for an elegant way to create the perfect way to say hello!
1. Create a Card Base For The Peony Perfection Hello Card
To begin the card, we’re going to create an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) side-folding card base. For tips on how to make a card base, go to How To Make A Card Base.
2. Letterpress The Images
Trim a piece of BetterPress Porcelain cardstock. And then, we’ll go ahead and press the Peony Perfection Registration & Die Set on the cotton panel. If you’re not familiar with Registration plates, they make it possible to create lovely letterpress images with different colors within the image. For example, for this this card you can make the flowers one color, the leaves and greenery another, and the greeting yet a different color. These are the BetterPress Inks that I use for this card:
- Flowers – Strawberry (Flower Garden BetterPress Set)
- Leaves & Greenery – Leaf (Flower Garden BetterPress Set)
- Sentiment – Black (Regal Tones BetterPress Set)
If you’re new to letterpressing with BetterPress, go to How To BetterPress Press for tips on how to get the best results.
Hint: it is easy to get ink on the acetate guide which then transfers to your cardstock when you press it. I recommend that you use a microfiber cloth to wipe around the press plate after you ink it.
3. Color The Pressed Images
To give the images a little more emphasis and dimension, we’re going to color them with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. The basic theme here is to have the color lightest where the sun or light hits it and darkest where there little or no light. To color your card similar to mine, here are the colors to use:
- Carmine Red
- Pale Vermilion
- Salmon Pink
- Canary Yellow
- Yellow Chartreuse
- Cream
- Olive Green
- Marine Green
- Apple Green
- Spring Green
- Aquamarine
- Indigo Blue
- Violet
4. Assemble The Peony Perfection Hello Card
To finish the card, we’ll start by trimming a piece of Dahlia cardstock to A2 size. And then, we’ll fasten it to the front of the card base. Go To How To Attach A Color Panel Onto A Card Base for help on getting the card panel attached square to the card base.
Next, we’ll give the pressed card panel some dimension by popping it up with a foam sheet. Lastly, we’ll add a little bling with Spellbinders Aura sequins with some liquid glue.
And, that’s it for making this lovely card to let someone know that you are thinking of them.
