How To Sparkle With Shine Bright

Learn how to use beautiful details to take your homemade cards to the next level. Each card is different so be sure to read all three.
These cards are inspired by Altenew’s course called Beautiful Details Online Class which is part of the curriculum for their Educator Certification Program.
Fall Card Using Colored Pencils For Beautiful Details
This card looks extremely complex, but it is quick and easy to produce such beautiful results.
To begin we’ll use the gorgeous Majestic Blooms layered stamp set. We’ll start with the lightest ink color for the first layer. Then we’ll add the second layer with a darker color.
The image is beautiful at this point but we are going to take it to the next level. We’ll use colored pencils in colors that coordinate with the inks to punch out the details of the flower. And we’ll do so by outlining images and creating shadows.
We use the same technique for the leaves and we will fussy cut them all out when we are done.
Card Assembly
We’re using an A2 kraft card base for this card and a 3 3/4″ x 5″ card panel. We’ll add a strip of washi tape that coordinates with the inks we’re using to the card panel. Then we’ll cut a piece of the accent cardstock to 1″ x 5″ and attach it slightly over the Washi Tape and line it up with the top and bottom of the card panel.
Now we’ll begin to arrange our images. We’ll also decide where we want to put the sentiment once we’ve got the flowers and leaves where we want them to be.
When everything is just the way we want it we’ll press a piece of Peal ‘n Seal into the flower and leaves so that we can remove them while keeping them arranged the same way. Once we’ve got the images removed then we’ll stamp the sentiment in place.
At this point, we’ll attach the card panel to the card base using some adhesive runner. Then we’ll use some liquid glue to the backs of the flowers and leaves. We want to make sure to get glue in between images as well. And finally, we can turn them over and attach them to the card panel.

Adoring Lotus Card Using Inktence Pencils For Beautiful Details
This is another beautiful card using details to create a simple design.
To begin we’ll stamp the image onto our card panel using the no-line technique. This just means that we’ll use a very light color for the outline that kind of disappears once we’ve added our details.
Next, using a small brush, we’ll dip it in water and then pick up some of the color from the Inktense pencil and begin to add it over the image. This produces a soft, hand-drawn look.
To create the background we just spray metallic spray onto the card base. While it’s drying we stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of colored cardstock.
Assembly is quick. We’ll trim the card panel and its shadow layer with dies. Then we’ll attach them together using an adhesive runner. And then we attach it on an angle to the card base using a double-sided adhesive foam sheet. And finally, we’ll pop up the sentiment with a scrap of the foam sheet.

Fall Daisy Card Using Alcohol Markers For Beautiful Details
Our last card hints of fall with the colors that we’re using.
We’ll begin by brushing a piece of vellum with anti-static powder to keep the embossing powder from going anywhere but where we want it to be. Then we’ll stamp our image onto the vellum using watermark ink. We’ll sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image and then give the cardstock a tap. And then we’ll use a heat tool on it moving the tool back and forth over the cardstock until the image is smooth and melted.
Next, we’ll turn the vellum over and color in the daisy and the leaves using alcohol markers to give it the beautiful details seen in the photos above. It’s helpful to use a light table or to lift the vellum to a light source periodically to see the outlines.
Background and Assembly
The background is done the same way we did for the Lotus card. But for this card, we used two colors and sprayed it onto the colored cardstock that we used for the card layer.
Now we’ll trim the card panel using a stitched die and attach a piece of foam sheet to the back. Then we’ll arrange the flowers, leaves, and card panel on the card base. We trim the leaves so that they don’t show beneath the flower. Once we’ve decided on exactly where we want everything we’ll press a piece of press n’ seal onto the flower and leaves to preserve the arrangement.
When the flower, leaves, and card panel have been removed we can then stamp the sentiment directly onto the card layer. We’ll do this using a nice dark brown that coordinates with the center of the daisy.
All that is left to be done is to assemble the card. First, we’ll attach the card layer to the card base using an adhesive dot runner. Then we’ll remove the remaining backing paper of the double-sided foam sheet on the card panel and attach it to the card base and layer. Now we’ll glue dots to attach the flower and leaves.
And that is how we make our third card with beautiful details.
