Stitched Circle Card Tutorial

Creating handmade greeting cards is a wonderful way to express your creativity and send heartfelt messages. Today, we’ll guide you through the process of crafting a beautiful Stitched Circle Background Card. Whether you’re a seasoned greeting card maker, a DIY enthusiast, or a craft lover, this step-by-step guide will help you achieve stunning results.

The Stitched Circle Background Card combines elegant design with a touch of whimsy, making it perfect for any occasion. By following these simple steps, you’ll create a card that’s sure to impress.

Steps to Make The Stitched Circle Card

1. Die-cut the Background Layers and Sentiment and Its Shadows

First, gather your die-cutting machine and the necessary dies. You’ll need:

  • The Stitched Circle Background die with stitched circle patterns
  • The A Little Hello Stamp and Die set with matching shadow dies

Instructions:

  1. Select your cardstock colors. For a striking contrast, choose a mix of vibrant and neutral shades.  To make a card like this, you’re going to use Spellbinders cardstock sunkissed, lagoon, royal amethyst and snowdrift.
  2. Place the dies onto the cardstock and run them through the die-cutting machine as follows: stitched circle die from snowdrift, zig zag from lagoon and sunkissed.  It is helpful to tape the zig zag die and the plain circle die together before running it through your die-cutting machine.
  3. Die-cut your chosen sentiment from sunkissed. Then, use the mid-shadow die to cut its corresponding shadow layer from royal amethyst cardstock and the large shadow from lagoon.

2. Assemble the Background and Sentiment with Liquid Glue

Once you have all your die-cut pieces ready, it’s time to assemble them.

Instructions:

  1. Apply a thin layer of liquid glue to the back of the main zig zag circle. in my case it’s the one cut from lagoon. Spread the glue over the cardstock with a scrap of cardstock to keep it from seeping out from behind your die-cut.  Carefully adhere it centered on the stitched circle cut from snowdrift.
  2. Now apply glue to the back of every other zig zag die-cut pieces cut from sunkissed.  And then, inlay them on the zig zag circle.  It is helpful to use a reverse tweezers for gluing and placing the cardstock precisely
  3. Next, glue the sentiment onto its shadow layers. Ensure they are centered and aligned properly. Once dry, apply glue to the back of the shadow layer and position it on your card as desired.

3. Assemble the Stitched Circle Card

Now that your main elements are in place, let’s put the card together.

Instructions:

  1. Trim a piece of royal amethyst to 4″ x 5 1/4″. You can do so with a trimmer, however, I like to use a rectangle die such as the ones found in Spellbinders Precision Layering A2 die set to ensure that the panel is square.
  2. Attach the panel to the card base using a tape runner.
  3. Once the glue on the circle background is dry, apply glue to the back of it and position it on your card as desired. Add any additional embellishments or layers to enhance your design.
  4. Consider using foam adhesive squares to add dimension to certain elements, like the sentiment.
  5. Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, remove the backing paper from the foam squares and press down firmly on the sentiment to ensure everything is securely attached.
  6. Allow the card to dry completely before handling.
