Although it may not appear like it, this card is pretty quick and easy to put together.
To begin with, we’re going to create a Slimline size (3 3/4″ x 9″) card base. For tips on how to make a card base, you might like to read How To Make A Card Base.
Next, we have the trimmer out, go ahead and cut a 3 3/4″ x 9″ color panel from Onyx cardstock.
And then, we’ll go ahead and press the Sprigs Registration & Die Set on Porcelain cotton cardstock. If you’re not familiar with Registration plates, they make it possible to create lovely letterpress images with different colors. For this card, we’re using the following BetterPress Inks:
- Wild Berry (Nature Tones BetterPress Set)
- Azalea (Flower Garden BetterPress Set)
- Teal Topaz (Tropical BetterPress Set)
- Thunder (Jet Set BetterPresss Set)
Die-cutting & Sentiment For The Welcome To My Garden Card
All of the Registration Sprigs plates come with coordinating dies. Therefore, our next step is to die-cut each of the flowers.
And then, we’ll go ahead and make the sentiment too. To demonstrate how, we’ll begin by heat embossing the “Welcome To My Garden” stamp from the Propagation Garden Sentiments with black embossing powder on white cardstock. Read Mastering the Basics of Heat Embossing for hints on how to achieve high-quality heat embossing results. This set also has coordinating dies, so we’ll die-cut the sentiments once it is cool.
Finally, there’s one more thing we need to do to finish the sentiment. We’re going to make a wax seal using the Oval Hello Wax Seal Stamp.
Assembly
To put the card together, we’ll begin by attaching the color panel to the card base using a tape runner. Next, we’re going to arrange the die-cut floral images on the card front until you have them just the way you want them. At this point, I find it helpful to take a photo of your arrangement so you can refer back to it as you attach each of the die-cuts. Use different thicknesses of foam squares to build up some of the flowers and add dimension to the card.
Fasten the sentiment to the card front. Then, attach the wax seal with an adhesive circle.
I find that it makes working with these tiny pieces to be much easier when I use and embellishment tool and reverse tweezers. Now, you can use liquid glue to layer the flower center fronts on the backers. And then, go ahead and fasten one to each of the large flowers.
