Today, I’m sharing four beautiful Christmas cards to make with Spellbinders’ Swirling Foliage, a hot foil system, and Distress Watercolor Pencils. The hot plate is from the August 2023 Spellbinders release. And, is in the Glimmer For The Holidays Collection. You use the same basic techniques for all four cards. The only differences are the colors that you use for the backgrounds and the foil. And, we’ll cut out the rainbow tree.

To begin with, we’ll trace around the hot foil plate lightly with a pencil onto our card panel. Next, we’ll color the tree with the watercolor pencils of your choice. Once the trees are dry, you will select a foil that coordinates with your tree. And then, you will hotfoil it directly over the top of your watercoloring.

At this point, you can cut out the tree, add some blending around it, or just leave it the way it is. And then, you’ll want to mount it onto an A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″)card base.

You’ll need to add a sentiment to each card to finish them. I use the new Christmas Die and Hot Foil Sentiments set for three of the cards. I like it because provides a lovely combination of die-cuts and foil. And, for the rainbow card I use a larger die to cut the sentiment from black glitter foam to give it even more bling.

I hope you have fun making your own versions of the cards. There are so many things that you can do with this Hot Foil Plate set.
