Let’s dive into the tutorials!

4 Card Ideas using the Jan 26 Club Kits

1. Stitching Die Jan 26 Club Kit Card

A stunning card featuring a blue butterfly, yellow flower, and the text "wishing you the best year" on a purple watercolor background—perfect for fans of Club Kit Cards.

The Stiching Die of the Month is often the showstopper, and this January is no exception. We are going to let the die cuts take center stage on this card, creating a focal point that needs very little embellishment to shine.

How To Make the Stitching Die Jan 26 Club Kit Card

  1. Prepare Your Base: Start by cutting a piece of white cardstock to 8.5″ x 5.5″ and fold it in half to create a standard A2 top-folding card base.
  2. Die Cut the Elements: Using the Stitching Die set, cut the main outline pieces: the butterfly from a soft, pastel cardstock—think fairy tale lilac, windy blue, and seaside teal. And the flower from classic cornflower colors like saffron, truffle, and peridot cardstock for a crisp contrast.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Use a fine-tip glue bottle to assemble the focal elements in layers. But you might want to add a little bling before you assemble the butterfly. You can use silver thread to stitch the wig pieces. Or you can also just use a silver metallic pen and draw over the stitch lines. Then, you can add sparkly iridescent glitter to the pieces that frame the stitched pieces for a magical feel. Take your time here to align the edges perfectly.
  4. Create the Background: Cut a panel of light gray or pastel cardstock slightly smaller than your card front (4″ x 5.25″). To give it some interest without overpowering the die cuts, splatter it lightly with diluted white acrylic paint or white ink. Let it dry completely. Or, pull out something from your stash as I did. HINT: I create this kind of panel by adding water to leftover ink on my glass work surface and picking it up with a piece of cardstock.
  5. Mount the Elements: Arrange your assembled die-cut pieces in the center of the gray panel. Once you are happy with the layout, adhere them down. You can use foam tape for a bit of dimension or liquid glue for a flat profile.
  6. Add the Sentiment: Choose a “Happy Birthday” or “Hello” sentiment from your stash (or use “wishing you the best year” from Best Year Sentiments, the Clear Stamp and Die set for January. Stamp it in black in the perfect place of the design.
  7. Final Touches: Adhere the finished background panel to your white card base using liquid glue. Add a few clear sparkling gems around the sentiment for that extra bit of shine.

2. 3D Embossing Folder Jan 26 Club Kit Card

Greeting card with a large pink flower, green leaves, and "thank you" in cursive on the bottom left. Perfect for card making or stunning cards crafted with the Jan 26 Club Kit. Pink background features stripe and speckle patterns.

The “Cottage Wall” 3D Embossing Folder provides incredible texture. For this card, we’re going to enhance that dimension with some simple ink blending to make the “stones” pop.

How to Make the 3D Embossing Folder Jan 26 Card

  1. Enhance the Texture While Embossing the Panel: Cut a piece of cardstock from your stash (I use one that has pink and orange watercolor splotches on it) to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Take a gray ink pad like pumice stone, Distress Oxide, and lightly drag it directly over the raised areas of the “Cottage Wall” 3D Embossing Folder. Place the panel inside the embossing folder. Remember to use the correct sandwich for your machine (usually the platform base, the folder with paper inside, and the adapter plate) and run it through your die-cutting machine. This technique highlights the top of the stones, giving them a weathered, realistic look.
  2. Draw Out the Detail: Take a green shimmer ink pad, such as Summer Garden Shimmer, and drag it directly onto a glass or non -porous surface. Add a drop of water somewhere close to the ink then dip your waterbrush in the water and pick up some of the ink. Color in the leaves in the design. This watercolor technique helps to draw one’s eyes to the lovely design of the embossing folder.
  3. Add A Little Bling: Use a rose gold metallic marker to color over the elements of the flower center. Then splatter the panel with black and gold ink diluted with a little water.
  4. Stamp and Mount: Stamp the “thank you” sentiment from the January Clear Stamp & Die Monthly kit in black ink onto a strip of white cardstock. Die cut the sentiment with the coordinating die. Find the perfect place for the message and attach it to the card front with liquid glue.
  5. Assemble: Add a gray A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) color panel to an A2 white card base with a tape runner. Trim the embossed panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attach it centered on top using strong double-sided tape (embossed panels can be tricky to stick down with just liquid glue!).

3. Press & Foil Card Jan 26 Club Kit Card

A vintage-style postcard featuring a bird, flowers, a butterfly, handwritten text, and a "JUST BECAUSE" label on the front.

The “Post Card Hello” plate is a beauty because it works for both BetterPress and Glimmer systems. We’re going to create a classy, old-looking card by ink blending with brown ink on whitecardstock.

How to Make the Press & Foil Jan 26 Press & Foil Card

  1. Press the Design: Add a A2 size porcelain panel to the top of your BetterPress System. Place the “Post Card Hello” plate on the base and ink it up with Crushed Velvet Shimmer ink. Place the top over the base, aligning the magnets, and carefully run the sandwich through your Platinum machine.
  2. Add Some Color: Use ink to watercolor the images.
  3. Add Some Age: Blend dark brown around the edges and various areas to make the postcard look as though it has been aging for a long time. Don’t be shy with your brown ink. This is always the best part!
  4. Trim and Mat: Trim the pressed panel down to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Adhere the panel to a white A card base.
  5. Add a Sentiment: Press “Just Because” from The “Post Card Hello” set in brown ink and use the coordinating die to cut it out. Attach the sentiment at the bottom of the card.

4. Stencil Jan 26 Club Kit Card

A handmade greeting card with layered orange and pink poppies, purple stems, scalloped borders, and the message "Hope this card brightens your day.

Stencils are fantastic for creating quick, colorful backgrounds. The “Poppy Perfection” stencil allows us to build a vibrant garden scene in minutes.

How to Make the Stencil Jan 26 Club Kit Card

  1. Secure Your Paper: Tape a piece of 4.25″ x 5.5″ white cardstock to your work surface. Or, you can use a Stencil & Stamp Tool like I do. Place the first layer of the stencil over the paper and secure it with low-tack tape.
  2. Layer 1 (Flower Buds & Petals): Using a blending brush, apply light orange ink through the stencil openings. Start with a very light hand and then make it a little darker toward the centers of the flowers and to one side of the buds. Carefully remove the stencil and switch to the next one.
  3. Layers 2 & 3 (Flower Petals): Repeat with the next two stencils using the same technique and darker orange inks, being sure to align the stencils as you go. PLEASE NOTE: The third stencil (mine is marked with 4) includes the flower centers (three small circles, you will have to realign the stencil with your blended design to blend them on your card panel).
  4. Layer 4 (Leaves & Flower Detail): Using a blending brush, apply a medium orchid ink through the stencil openings. Vary the shading to add depth and interest.
  5. Layer 5 (Stems & Flower Detail): Align the last stencil layer. Apply a dark orchid ink with a heavy hand. You can concentrate the color where the stem meets the flower to add depth.
  6. Die Cut the Panel: Once the ink is dry, use a rectangular die with a decorative edge (like a hemstitch or scalloped rectangle) to cut out the stenciled panel. This gives it a finished look.
  7. Finish the Card: Mount the stenciled panel onto a coordinating colored card base (pick one of the ink colors you used, I use orange!). Add a nice sentiment like “hope this card brightens your day” from the Clear Stamp & Die set this month, stamped with black ink. Use the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment. Cut another one in the same color as your colored panel and slightly offset it to give a little “halo” around your sentiment.
