Kids want to make and give their own Father’s Day Cards. Jens, my nephew, and I teach them how in this article.

We meet once a week on Zoom to build cards together. And this week Jens wanted to make a Father’s Day card. In our classes, we try to use supplies that kids may already have, and keep the number of supplies to a minimum.

Jens calls his father Papa. And that is why we’re making a card for Papa in the video. If you call your’s Dad, then the second video and the instructions below show how to make your card with DAD on the front.

Have fun watching the videos and making your cards!

Step-by-Step Instructions For Father’s Day Cards

  1. Cut out a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of white paper. This will be your card panel.
  2. Cut out 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of white paper. Mark lightly on both of the long sides at the 4 1/4″ and then fold the card so that the fold is at those marks. You will end up with a card that is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. This will be your card base.
  3. Put a piece of newspaper or scrap paper down on your work surface. And then draw your ink pad on the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock or paper using long, straight strokes. This will result in “colored cardstock” once you cover the entire card with ink.
  4. Draw tools on the “colored cardstock” using a black marker.
  5. Cut out the letters for “PAPA” or “DAD” following the instructions in the videos (PAPA is in the video above, DAD is in the video below)
  6. Add glue to the back of the colored cardstock and attach it to the front of your card base.
  7. Add glue to the back of the letters and attach them to your card front.
  8. Decorate the inside of the card if you like by drawing tools and/or adding decorations.
  9. Congratulations!! You’ve finished your Father’s Day Card!
