Making a scrapbook card is so fun because you can whip it up in no time. You’re only limitation is the scrapbook papers you make them with. Read on to learn how to make them.
Scoring and Folding To Create the Double-Fold Gate Card
We’ll start with a piece of two sided patterned paper and trim it to 5″ high by 12″ wide. Then score it at 1″, 3 1/2″, 8 1/2″, and 11″ along the long side. To demonstrate, you will have four 5″ long score lines from top to bottom. Afterwards, with the side of paper that you want to be on the inside facing you, fold the two 1″ pieces on the ends backwards. For example, they will be “mountains”. Then fold the other two scores towards you to make valleys.
Therefore, you should end up with mountain, valley, valley, mountain. And as a result, you will end up with a double-fold gate card. Where the card fronts meet in the middle.
Trimming Pieces For The Scrapbook Card
Next, we’ll trim a piece of white cardstock to 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″. This piece will be used to write a message on the inside of the card.
And then, we’ll trim a piece of mirror cardstock to 3 1/8″ x 3 1/8″. This piece will be used to complete the front of the card.
Finally, we’ll trim out one of the cards in the Merry & Bright pad. This will be used as the focal point for the card.
Scrapbook Card Assembly
Assembly for this care is quick and easy. We’ll center the white piece on the inside of the card, and attach it with a glue runner.
Next, we’ll pop up the card onto the mirror cardstock square with a piece of foam sheet. And then we’ll attach it to the front flap on the left side taking care to ensure that it is centered and is only attached to the flap.
As a result, the focal point should fold nicely over the right side of the card to make a beautiful, elegant Christmas card that you can make in minutes.
