How To Make 4 Cards From SB Release!

4 Cards made with Spellbinders January 23 Release

I am so excited to share 4 cards to make using products from Spellbinders’ new release! Read on to find out what to use. There are a number of things to love about this release.

The umbrella is so cool! The shade is made up of two die cuts so that you can create dimension by using a lighter color for the top of the umbrella and a darker one for the underside. And then the tiny detailed dies that come with the set like the top and handle. And, it even comes with dies to decorate the umbrella with dots and stripes!

Spellbinders put so much thought into their products. I love that their embossing folders are sized so that you can use them in so many ways. For example, you can use them both vertically and horizontally for an A2 (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″) size card, and a mini-slimline card (3 1/2″ x 6″) although you may have to trim the mini panel to 3 1’4″ x 5 3/4″). And, for this one, you can also use it vertically for a 5″ x 7″ card as well as a slimline card (3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″). Isn’t that fantastic?

I have listed all the products to make each of the cards, and this article contains some affiliate links. What that means is that if you purchase something by following one of the links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting my blog!

4 Cards: Rain or Shine Card

This clean and simple card is quick and easy to make. To make it you’ll use the umbrella die from the Rain or Shine Die Set, the Raindrops 3D Embossing Folder, and “Rain or Shine, You’re Always On My Mind” from the I’ve Got You Covered Stamp & Die Set.

Pearlescent cardstock works wonderfully with this embossing folder. I made my own by using a metallic powder and blue cardstock, Raindrops.

The umbrella can be cut from Lilac Blossom, Royal Amethyst, and Silver mirror cardstock. And you can use Brushed Silver cardstock and white embossing powder for the sentiment.

To assemble the card, you should try out the new tape runner and foam squares. The steps that I use are to glue the top of the handle to right in the middle of the underside of the umbrella. Then you’ll add glue on the backside of the top of the umbrella right along the brim. And then, you’ll attach the top to the underside over the handle. And you might need to use Bearly Art Glue to fasten down the umbrella too.

4 Cards: Hello Sunshine Card

A handmade card from the SB Release features a black center, colorful rainbow cutouts, a vibrant yellow sun, and the text "HELLO SUNSHINE" in white letters. Explore how to make this cheerful design that's perfect for brightening anyone's day.
A greeting card with a sun and rainbow design on a black background, captioned "HELLO SUNSHINE," rests atop a red envelope on a wooden surface—a perfect inspiration for those looking to make 4 cards or learn how to make cards.

This is another fun little clean and simple card using the rainbow and the sun dies from the same die set and “Hello Sunshine” from the same sentiment set.

We create the whimsical feel for the card by creating a deckle frame using the largest die from Spellbinders Deckle Rectangles Lg die set to cut from black cardstock.

Then, we’ll cut the sun and the rays from two shades of scrap yellow glitter paper. However, you can use Saffron and Beeswax to get a very similar look. And, use the following cardstock to cut the rainbow pieces from:

To be honest, the original intent was to arrange the rainbow colors into two rainbows. But what you see in the photo is how the pieces fell when I set them down to begin to arrange them. The jumble of colors adds to the whimsical feel of the card. Just use a little bit of Bearly Art Glue to hold them all together.

I always like to arrange my pieces on the card before gluing to get a feel for where to put the sentiment. This will help to find the perfect placement. And then, we’ll heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Now, we can pop up the black panel onto a white A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card base using foam tape. And then, we will blue the sun to the rays and attach it and the rainbow to the black panel with liquid glue.

4 Cards: Under The Weather Card

Handmade card displaying three green umbrellas and the text "Sorry you're feeling under the weather" on a textured background; perfect for crafting enthusiasts looking for How To Make unique greeting cards.
A greeting card with three green umbrellas and a message that reads, "Sorry you're feeling under the weather." This beautiful SB Release card is placed on a wooden surface.

Yep, you guessed it. We’ve got one more clean and simple card. And this one uses the same die set, embossing folder, and sentiment stamp set that we use for the first card (Rain or Shine Die Set, Raindrops 3D Embossing Folder, and “Sorry You’re Feeling Under The Weather” from the I’ve Got You Covered Stamp & Die Set.

However, for this card, we’ll use Brushed Silver cardstock to create an A2 card base. And we’ll use the embossing folder with white glitter paper. As a result, we have a spectacular sparkly rain effect for the background. We’ll trim it to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attach it centered on the card base with Bearly Art Glue taking care that the edges are fastened well.

Now, we’ll make three teal umbrellas beginning with cutting the three tops from Teal Topaz, and Lagoon. And then we’ll cut three handles from Silver mirror cardstock. We’ll put the umbrellas together as we did in the first card and then we’ll add some foam tape to the umbrellas to pop them up.

The adhesive on the foam tape doesn’t work too well on the glitter cardstock so you’ll want to remove the backing paper and add some liquid glue before attempting to fasten the umbrellas to the card. After you get the first umbrella attached in place then add a tiny bit of liquid glue behind the handle and hold it there with your finger until it sticks. Repeat with the next two umbrellas using the photo to guide you with where to locate them.

Once again we’ll use Brushed Silver cardstock and white embossing powder for the sentiment. And we’ll pop it up like we did the umbrellas. At that is it for this beauty.

Rainbow Umbrellas

And now for the finale. I think I love this card most of all, but then again I love rainbows!

To create the card you’ll need to use the Raindrops 3D Embossing Folder with a 4″ x 9″ piece of Raindrops cardstock. HINT: Keep a scrap of blue cardstock for the sentiment. And then to enhance the raindrops, add Glaze ‘n Glue to each of them and set the card panel aside to dry.

Now we’ll die-cut all the pieces for the umbrellas using colored cardstock. Colors that you can use from Spellbinders are as follows:

And, as we did in the earlier cards we’ll use Silver mirror cardstock for the umbrella handles. However, for this card, we’ll also use Black cardstock to add the umbrella top and the handle.

Once the background is dry, you can attach it just as we did on the other cards. We’ll only use liquid glue to attach the umbrellas. The I’ve Got You Covered sentiment set has a really nice Hello stamp that we’ll heat emboss with white on our scrap of blue cardstock. And then we’ll use the coordinating die to cut it out.

We’ll just pop up the sentiment with some scraps of foam tape and that’s it.
