Crafting a Gold Glimmer Hello Card

Crafting a Gold Glimmer Hello Card

Creating a gold glimmer hello card is a delightful way to showcase the elegance of mirror image foiling. The combination of pink foil, brushed gold cardstock and the splash designs of the glimmer plate creates a luxurious appearance that is sure to impress. Follow these steps to create your own stunning hello card with ease.

Begin by selecting a high-quality cardstock as your base. This will serve as the foundation for your design and should be thick enough to withstand the heat of the foiling process. Opt for a neutral color, such as white or cream, to allow the foil and the brushed gold cardstock to stand out and shine.

Next, choose a foiling plate from the Spellbinders kit that features a symmetrical design. This could be anything from floral patterns to geometric shapes, depending on your personal preference. We are using Colorful Splash, Spellbinders Glimmer of the Month August 2024 for our card. Position the plate on your Glimmer system in the position you want it to be on the cardstock. And turn the system on.

Once your plate is in place, cut a piece of pink foil slightly larger than the design. When your hot foiling system is ready, lay the foil over the plate ensuring that the shiny side is facing up. Place the entire hot foiling sandwich onto the Glimmer Hot Foil System and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to complete the foiling process. Once done, carefully peel away the foil to reveal your stunning mirror image design.

How To Make the Card

Now that you’ve mastered the art of foiling, it’s time to assemble your card. Begin by trimming your foiled design to the desired size (In this case it needs to be A2 size, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″), ensuring that the edges are clean and even. This will create a polished look and make adhering the design to your card base easier.

Fold a piece of cardstock in half to create an A2 card base. Read How To Make A Card Base for help.

Adhere your foiled design to the front of the card base using double-sided tape or a tape runner. Press firmly to ensure that the design is securely attached and won’t shift over time.

To complete your gold glimmer hello card, create a simple sentiment using a die and shadow. This could be a simple “hello” or a more detailed note, depending on the occasion. I use the Hello Smile die set to create mine with snowdrift cardstock and brushed gold. Your finished card is now ready to be gifted, bringing joy and luxury to its recipient.

Designing a Pink Glimmer Birthday Card

I love to take advantage of all my leftovers when I make cards and this is a perfect solution for using the negative from the Gold Hello card. You can do it too with any solid glimmer plate. I’m using Spellbinders Solid Rectangle plate with another A2 size piece of brushed gold cardstock with the negative foil to create a pink glimmer birthday card. Follow these steps to craft your own beautiful birthday card.

White cardstock for your base will work fine as we will cover up the entire card front with the pink foiled piece.

How to Make the Mirror Image Foiling Card

With your foiled design complete, it’s time to assemble the birthday card. The steps are the same as for the first card. The only difference is that we’ll use the die without the shadow from Serneade Sentiments with Mahogany cardstock.

Your completed card is now ready to bring a smile to someone’s face on their special day.
