Do Your Color Panels End Up Wonky?
In this article, I'll show you a trick that will help you to attach your color panel squarely to the card base.
Required Tools & Supplies
- Stamp Positioning Tool or Tool That Has Two Sides – Altenew Stampwheel
- Card base
- Card panel
- Repositionable Adhesive – Gina K Designs Adhesive Dot Runner
Steps For Attaching A Card Panel Squarely On A Card Base
It is so frustrating when you go to attach a color card panel to the front of your card base and it's crooked. When that happens you have to trim off part of the card base or patch in color with a marker. In this tutorial, I'll show you a method you can use to avoid that and get them straight.
I show a little trick that I use to get color panels aligned correctly in one of my videos called Fun Ways To Step Up Stenciled Cards. I've linked it there for you if you want to watch the whole thing, however I've just got a little excerpt below that shows this technique.
- Place your card base front side up and folded edge at the bottom into your stamp positioning tool. Make sure that the card base is snug in the left corner.
- Then lower the card base down onto the sticky mat.
- Attach adhesive to the back of your card panel. HINT: I like to use a tape runner that is repositionable for a short while before it sets up. That way you have a little bit of time to adjust your panel if you need to.
- Holding the card panel in the upper right hand corner, slowly move it towards the lower left hand corner of the
- stamp positioning tool.
- Holding it in place align the bottom edge of the card panel (the one that will align with the folded edge of the card panel) with the stamp positioning tool and tap it in place.
- Smooth the card panel over the card base with your fingers, beginning at the bottom and move up to the top.
