New Hummingbird Nectar Press Plate!

Hummingbird Nectar is the new press plate from Altenew! Yes, they are now making press plates compatible with Spellbinders BetterPress System! What a gift to be able to work with the beautiful floral images from Altenew combined with the beautiful detail provided by Spellbinders BetterPress!

I couldn’t wait to make something with it, so let’s take a look at the two projects that I have created for you.

Hummingbird Nectar Card With Some Bling

I took a video while playing with the new press plates and new fresh dye inks.

Hummingbird Nectar Thank You Card

To make this card you’ll need to start by attaching an A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) size piece of porcelain cotton cardstock to the platen. That is the clear plastic top piece. Then, you’ll want to arrange the two plate pieces on the carrier. Otherwise known as the magnetic piece.

Now, ink up the plates with black ink, lower the platen over the carrier cardstock side down, and run it through your embossing machine.

Now that you have the beautiful design imprinted on the cardstock, you can start coloring. Water-reactive colored pencils make this an easy task. For example, you can mix colors to add interest and dimension to the images. For example, I used yellow, orange, and red on the flowers, and yellow and green on the stems.

Assembly is a breeze. Attach the color panel to the card base with glue tape. And then trim the card panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attach it centered on the card front using glue tape here too.
