A snowman makes you smile. So why not send a snowman card to someone you love? We give you instructions on how to make this cute card.
Spellbinders’ September Large Die of the Month is called “Boo-Licious Fall Cupcake”. And, it has all kinds of dies that you can use to create cupcakes to put on your cards. For example, Halloween, fall, and Thanksgiving. However, you can do so much more with this die set!
If you’re interested in what is in the kit there are two articles that I have written using them. There are 3 cards using this set in DISCOVER THE LATEST FROM SPELLBINDERS: SEPT MONTHLY CLUB KITS! And another one in HOW TO MAKE A CARD THAT GLOWS IN THE DARK!
And, in true Spellbinders style, they have created an add-on set, called Seasonal Cupcake Toppers. This set includes dies for additional seasons and holidays as well. That is what we’re using for today’s card.
To make the card we’ll begin with the background. I use an extra cover die-cut that I had left over from the July Stitched Die of the Month, Stitched Snowflake Card Front. If you want one just like it, I used Glacier cardstock to cut it from. And, I attach it to a white A2 size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card base using a double-sided adhesive sheet that I also cut to A2 size.
How To Make This Cute Snowman Card
HINT: Using double-sided adhesive sheets is better than a tape runner to attach a die-cut or embossed card panel because it helps to keep panels that are warped from popping up off of the card base.
Next, I’ll do most of my die-cutting. This is a perfect time to use your cardstock scraps. But if you want to use Spellbinders cardstock this is what you will need:
- (2) sprigs – Forest
- (4) sprigs – Fern
- Snowman arms, eyes, and buttons – Onyx
- Snowman nose – Persimmon
- Snowman body – White Pop-up Glimmer Foam
We’ll do one more thing before we start to assemble the card, we’ll create the sentiment. To do so, we’ll use the Comfort and Joy Sentiments set from the Bibi Camoeron’s Snowflake Collection in Spellbinders’ August 2023 release. To make the sentiment pop, we’ll use Prism hot foil on cosmic sky cardstock. And then, we’ll die-cut it out using the coordinating dies. The wonderful thing about this set is that there are two plates that allow you to hot foil and die-cut six sentiments at a time.
Assembly
Now, I like to put my die-cut figures together first. And I use liquid glue and tweezers to do so.
Then, you just arrange the sprigs over the snowflake shape on the die or in the center of the card. and attach them with glue. Finally, you just pop up the snowman and foam squares. And, you can double up the foam squares to give the stellar sentiment even more dimension and that is all there is to this cute card.
