Welcome, craft lovers! Today, we’re diving into the wonderful world of DIY greeting cards, focusing on creating a beautiful Layered Anemone Card. This guide is perfect for greeting card makers, DIY enthusiasts, and anyone with a passion for crafting. Let’s get started!

The Layered Anemone Card is a stunning addition to any greeting card collection. Its intricate layers and delicate design make it perfect for occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or simply to brighten someone’s day. With step-by-step instructions, you’ll be able to create this gorgeous card with ease.

Steps to Make The Layered Anemone Card

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin, ensure you have all the necessary supplies:

2. Die-Cut the Flowers, Sentiment, and Background

First, you’ll need to prepare your die-cutting machine and dies. Follow these steps:

  • Flowers: Use your die-cutting machine to cut out the different layers of the layered anemone flowers. Choose vibrant cardstock colors that will make your flowers pop.  To make your card like the one in the photo you will use Spellbinders cardstockpink sand for the smaller flower petals, dahlia for the large ones, sunkissed and tuscan for the flower centers.  And fern for the stems and leaves.
  • Sentiment: We’re using the A Little Hello die set for the sentiment.   And, we’ll cut it out using the same pink cardstocks as the flowers:  Pink sand for the sentiment, dahlia for the largest shadow.  And then, we’ll use snowdrift for contrast with the mid-size shadow.
  • Background: Die-cut a background piece to mount your flowers and sentiment. A neutral or lightly patterned paper works best.  I was shooting for the look of lattice work for this card and snowdrift is perfect.  You’ll want to be sure to place your die close to the bottom of your card panel to be sure to have enough room for the sentiment.

3. Assemble the Flowers and Sentiment with Liquid Glue

With all your pieces die-cut, it’s time to bring your elements together:

  • Flowers: Start layering the die-cut flower pieces from the bottom layer to the top. Use liquid glue for a secure and neat assembly. You can use a glue press to apply the glue precisely.
  • Sentiment: Apply a thin layer of liquid glue to the back of your die-cut sentiment and place it on the white shadow.  Then, use the same technique to add the assembly to the dahlia large shadow.

4. Assemble the Card

Now that your flowers and sentiment are ready, it’s time to assemble your card:

  • Card Base: Start with a standard A2 card base (4.25″ x 5.5″ when folded).  For tips on how to make one you can read How To Make A Card Base.
  • Color Layer:  Trim a piece of fern cardstock to A2 size and attach it to the front of the card base using a tape runner.  If you struggle to get your panels on evenly, you can find tips on how to do at the How To Align A Card Panel Squarely in our basic cardmaking technique tutorials.
  • Background Layer: Attach the die-cut background piece to the card front using foam squares.  And, you might want to cut some of the squares in thirds to provide some backing to the lattice.
  • Flowers and Sentiment: Arrange the assembled flowers over the lattice background.  And, the sentiment at the top of the card. Once you’re happy with the layout, adhere them using liquid glue and foam squares for added dimension.

5: Personalize Your Card

  1. Add a sentiment or message using stamps, or handwritten text.
  2. Decorate the remaining space with additional anemones, as desired.
