Cute Nordic Card with Viking colored with Alcohol Markers on an ink lifted background.

We’ll begin making the card by creating the background with ink lifting. This is a technique that I learned at the Online Card Classes Spring Camp 2022 (@OCCCardCamp2022).

To do it we need to do some blending on white cardstock. We want to blend the lightest color first, then the middle color, and finish with the darkest color. Set it aside for the ink to dry. Hint: Because we’re going to do ink lifting we don’t have to worry too much about getting a great blend.

We will spray our stencil with a significant amount of water to do the ink lifting. Then we’ll turn the stencil over and day it down onto the blended card panel. We’ll cover it with a piece of paper towel and rub it. Lift the paper towel off and cover the card panel with a piece of paper towel and pat it. And let’s just set it aside to dry.

Stamp the image onto white cardstock and then color it with alcohol markers. And then we’ll cut it out with the coordinating die.

The next step is to create the sentiments. We’re going to do so by heat embossing them. So, we’ll brush a piece of vellum with anti-static powder. with watermark ink. Then we’ll arrange the sentiments the way we want them to appear on the card and stamp them using watermark ink.

Now we’ll sprinkle the embossing powder over our stamping and then give it a tap to remove all excess powder. Next, we’ll heat it until the powder is smooth and melted.

All that is left is to assemble the card. Use a glue runner to attach the card panel to the color layer, and then to the card base. And, we can attach the Viking with a glue runner as well. Lastly, we will add the sentiment. We’ll use glue dots behind the letters in the sentiment so that they will be hidden from the front.
