6 Valentine Cards That You Can Make

Greeting card with a heart-shaped window filled with small heart and sequin confetti, surrounded by a pattern of tiny hearts, and the text "happy valentine's day" inside. Perfect for those who love creating DIY Valentine Cards.

Six Valentine card ideas that you still have time to make; three that are romantic and three that are cute.

Valentine Heart

To make this beautiful card we’ll begin by stamping the rose heart onto a white card panel with multi-media ink. Next we’ll color the images using alcohol markers.

Then we attach a black color layer to an A2 card base using a glue runner. But we also trim a purple color layer and the card panel using dies to keep them square. We’ll use the glue runner to center both onto the card base over the black layer.

All that is left is the sentiment. To create it we’ll heat emboss a lovely script sentiment stamp with copper embossing powder. And then we’ll pop it up using a scrap of Double-sided adhesive foam sheet.

Isn’t this the cutest little dinosaur ever?

We’ll stamp the dinosaur image and color it similarly to the way we did for the first card. Then we’ll die-cut a scalloped heart from the color layer to create a soft frame that coordinates with the dinosaur.

Next, we stamp the sentiment onto coordinating cardstock and hand-cut a heart around it. And we’ll finish the card by attaching everything together with a glue runner.

Shaker Valentine

Lovely shaker valentine with rose gold mirror cardstock and pretty colored hearts and sequins.

To make this beautiful, super romantic Valentine we’re going to begin by using another heart die to cut a large heart shape out of the mirrored heart cardstock. We’ll also cut a stitched, scalloped heart frame from satin mirror cardstock using the heart box dies from the second card.

We’ll use the heart cardstock to determine where to stamp the sentiment on the front of the card base and furthermore, we’ll use the same script sentiment stamp we used in the first card. And then we’ll heat emboss it with the copper embossing powder.

We’ll use the frame to trace it onto a piece of Double-sided adhesive foam sheet. And then we’ll cut it out making sure that there won’t be any edges that show on either side. Similarly, we’ll cut a piece of acetate to fit just inside the outer edge of the heart frame.

Assembly

Using a rectangular die because we want to keep everything square, we’ll trim the heart cardstock to 4″x 5 1/4″. We do this because we want to create a thin white frame around the card. Next, we’ll center the heart layer and attach it to the card base using a glue runner.

Now, we’ll attach the acetate to the back side of the frame using the glue runner. And then we’ll remove the backing paper on one side of the foam sheet heart and attach it to the patterned mirror card panel around where the heart is cut out.

Hint: Brush a little anti-static powder or cornstarch on the inside edges of the foam tape. As a result, the sequins won’t stick to it.

Inside of the foam tape, we’ll sprinkle some of the smallest hearts that were off-fall from the final card in this article and a few sequins. Then we’ll remove the backing paper from the foam tape and carefully place the heart frame and acetate over the top.

Cute Valentines for Kids

These cards are perfect to make for kids. With this in mind, you could make them with them too. Moreover, they are easy to mass-produce.

To make the cards we’ll cut out four hearts from white cardstock. Then we’ll stamp the images using black multi-media ink and color them the same way we did for the first two cards.

Now we’ll die-cut a scalloped heart from the color layer. And then we’ll finish the card by attaching a white heart to each side of the scalloped hearts with a glue runner.

Beautiful clean and simple valentine with a layered die cut design.

The clean and simple design is what makes this card so fantastic. And they’re easy to make multiples in one sitting.

We’re using a layered die set with three coordinating cardstock colors to create our focal point. We’ll cut out each layer and then glue them together using liquid glue making sure that the centerpieces don’t shift.

After which we’ll glue our image directly to the front of our card base. All that is left is the sentiment. To create it we’ll stamp the script sentiment stamp with black pigment ink. And then we’ll pop it up using a scrap of Double-sided adhesive foam sheet.
