Decide On A Color Palette
I find it helpful to decide on a palette before starting to build my cards. For these cards, I opted for a rainbow in pastels rather than the full hues.

However, please note that I’ve opted to add a darker hue to complement or coordinate in places on the cards. For example, I use flower leaves in peridot and rainforest to give some variation. I use the same pair of greens for the note card on the Torn Paper Edges card. And, I use dahlia, which is a little darker than tutu for the background for the Push Pin Notes card

- Die-cut the Base: Use the torn paper edge die to create the illusion that the background has been torn. To do so, create a white A2 card base. For help with making a card base, you can read How to Make A Cardbase. Use one of the dies in the set to die-cut about 1″ from the edge of the card front. Add color by using dahlia cardstock to replicate the same torn edges as you die-cut from the front. Trim the color panel to the same size and attach it to the front with a tape runner.
- Craft the Notes: Die-cut small sticky-note shapes in coordinating colors. Make it fun and vibrant by using shades like yellow and coral.
- Add the Push Pins: Die-cut the push pin pieces in metallic and black hues. Attach them to your “sticky notes” for a realistic and playful vibe.
- Craft the Rotating Reel: Die-cut the color reel pieces in the pastel rainbow palette and the reel itself from fog cardstock. Attach the color pieces in rainbow order using liquid glue. Die-cut a 2″ circle three times from heavy scrap cardstock and layer them together using liquid glue. Place the circle stack inside the reel and arrange it on the inside of the card so that the front will close. Attach the layered circle to the card base, making sure that there is no glue on the reel. Die-cut a 2 1/2″ circle from acetate.

- Arrange, Adhere, and Assemble: Attach your sticky notes and pin to the card front, allowing a slight overlap over the torn edge for a natural look. On the inside, place the color reel over the layered circles and then attach the acetate circle centered on top using liquid glue. Ensure that the reel can move freely and place something heavy on top until the glue sets.
- Include a Message: Press the Reel Color Sentiments press plate on porcelain cardstock using black Betterpress ink. Die-cut the sentiments using the coordinating dies. Fasten “celebrate life in full color” to the center of the sticky note on the front of the card. Stamp a fun “happy” like the one from All the Sentiments on a piece of white cardstock using black ink and die-cut it with the coordinating die. Die-cut a 2″ circle from dahlia cardstock. Heat emboss “birthday” in the lower third of the circle in white. Fasten the pink circle centered on the acetate circle. Once the glue is set, attach the “happy” die-cut over the birthday.
This card will bring smiles and nostalgia, making it ideal for thanking a teacher, cheering up a friend, or celebrating a milestone.
Take A Note Collection Torn Paper Edges Card

The Torn Paper Edges card adds a contemporary twist to your designs, mimicking the look of perfectly imperfect torn pages layered with thoughtful details.
How to Make the Torn Paper Edges Card

- Select Your Layers: Starting with four pieces of A2-size cardstock die-cut with the torn paper edge dies. Choose colors that complement one another, like classic white, tutu, coral, and fog. Use the notebook holes die to die-cut the long edge on the left side of each card panel. And then, beginning with the coral piece, use one of the torn paper edge dies to die-cut the right edge so that the fog cardstock will peek out behind it when the coral is layered on top. Repeat with the tutu and the classic white card panels.
- Create Dimension: Using the piece of white that was left over from the previous step, score a line down the center lengthwise. This piece will act as the “hinge” for the card at the top. Trim it so that it will not be seen when attached behind the pink layer. Use very strong adhesive tape behind the torn edge and attach to the front of the fog layer with the fold on top. Using the same tape on the back side of the remaining flap, place the coral piece under the flap and fasten. Use a tape runner between the white, pink, and coral layers to give your card a 3D effect. Stack and stagger your torn paper pieces to add depth and texture. Add the “card front” to the back with another piece of strong adhesive tape
- Add a Message: Color a piece of BetterPress cardstock with distress watercolor pencils and water to create a dreamy colored background for your sentiment. When it’s dry, press it with the Reel Color Sentiments plate and black ink. Die-cutting the “Your kindness is my rainbow” or any of the sentiments will work beautifully. Use the Push Pin Notes Die set to die-cut a sticky note to add the sentiment to, and fasten it and a teal pushpin on the card front.

- Finish with Details: Select a pretty little floral die set from your stash to add some little flowers and leaves to the front and on the inside of the card. I use the garden builder set from mine.
This card’s darling, layered look is ideal for birthdays, just-because notes, or heartfelt thank-yous.
Take A Note Collection Memo Splatter Card

The Memo Splatter card channels creative energy with its vibrant ink splashes and memo-inspired overlays. It’s a perfect blend of organization and artistic delight.
How to Make the Memo Splatter Card

- Create the Background: Use distress watercolor pencils and water on porcelain cardstock to create a bright and beautiful background for your splatter card. Keep it messy and fun!
- Press the Splatter: Press the memo splatter design with black ink on the watercolor background to create a splatter silhouette.
- Write Your Note: Add a “happy birthday” sentiment in a playful font in a 2″ circle die-cut from raven cardstock with white heat embossing. Add Clips: Die cut mini clips or corners from metallic cardstock, and layer them over your memo die cuts for realistic detail.
- Add Dimension: Die-cut three more 2″ circles from the black cardstock and layer them behind the sentiment to give it some dimension.
- Layer and Adhere: Attach your ink splatter background to an A2 card base (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) with white liner. And finally, fasten the layered birthday greeting on top for a design that pops with creativity.
This vibrant card works well as an uplifting reminder or a note of encouragement to brighten someone’s day.
Take A Note Collection Color Reel Card

The Color Reel card is pure fun, mimicking a spectrum of hues straight out of an artist’s palette. It’s perfect for spreading color and cheer. And, it’s a double interactive card with a shaker that wobbles.
How to Make the Color Reel Card
- Die Cut the Reel: Start by cutting the color reel die with black cardstock. Add a touch of dimension to the edges by die-cutting four more reels from heavy cardstock. Layer them together with liquid glue, and dust the edges with iridescent glitter.
- Pick Your Colors: Die-cut the small sections of colored cardstock and the floral pieces to match each segment of the reel. Using the color palette we’ve chosen think soothing pastel rainbow shades.
- Adhere the Segments and Make the Shaker: Glue each colored piece inside the sections of your reel to create a stunning rainbow. Die-cut a 2 1/2″ circle from acetate and attach it centered on the back side of the reel. Attach the layered white reels on the back side of the black one with liquid glue. Die-cut a 4 1/4″ circle from waterfall cardstock. Once the glue has set on the layered reel, add seed beads or sequins in the center and then attach the blue circle with liquid glue.
- Background Base: If you like, attach a waterfall color panel to the front of an A2 card base. Mount your reel on the card base with a wobbly mount to make the reel shake at the slightest touch.
- Make it Sentimental: Use the “brighten every birthday with color” from the sentiments we created for the Torn Paper Edges Card and add it and some matching flowers with liquid glue.
The Color Reel card is not only visually striking but also a great way to celebrate creativity. This one will wow anyone who loves bold designs or artistic flair.
