How To Make These Victorian Cottage Lovely Layers Die Cards
The Victorian Cottage die set is intricate, but don’t worry—we’ll guide you through every step! Here’s how to create these elegant cards:
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
You’ll need the Victorian Cottage Lovely Layers Die set (of course!), cardstock in your chosen color palette, a die-cutting machine, liquid adhesive, foam tape for dimension, and your favorite embellishments (if you want to use them). Don’t forget ink pads or markers if you want to add some shading to your die cuts.
Step 2: Die-cut Your Pieces
Using your die-cutting machine, cut out all the individual pieces from the Victorian Cottage set. For the teal card, opt for shades of teal and browns. What is cool is that you will be able to use many of the off-fall pieces for the neutral card. You can mix solid cardstock with textured or shimmer cardstock for even more visual interest.
Pro Tip: Be sure to keep all the small pieces organized! Tiny details like window frames and door handles can easily get lost during the crafting process. I like to use Spellbinders Craft Stax to keep my dies and die-cuts organzied.
Step 3: Assemble the Victorian Cottage

Step 4: Create Your Card Background
For the teal card, I used a textured tan color panel with yellow tones in it. Then, die-cut the largest die in Honey Bee Stamps’ Antique Layering Frames die set with the same cardstock.
For added depth, use ink blending in greens and browns to shade the edges of your die-cut piece. This creates a more dimensional, realistic look.
The neutral card we go with a bolder brown color panel, die-cut the frame from kraft, and blend teal and brown inks for the shading.
Step 5: Embellish and Finalize
No card is complete without the finishing touches! Find a clean and simple sentiment to use, like this “Happy Birthday,” that I stamped with warm glow ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Now, you can add embellishments like tiny rhinestones, pearls, or metallic accents to enhance the details of your cottages for a festive touch.
